Good morning!
Zoey seems to be doing better overall but still has issues that greatly concern me. The petechiae seems to be clearing up but it's taking its sweet time doing it. The sore on her tail is black and crusty and not sure if it's better or not but vet said wait two to three weeks and give everything time to do what it's going to do. (Patience is not my virtue). She has a tear in the skin on her stomach ... that's new. Doesn't seem to bother her at all. T-shirt keeps it protected and I'm putting Neosporin on it with pain relief. She's still favoring her front paw and the pain meds don't seem to help in the least. But she's standing taller, poo is looking normal in color, shape and size; she's using the litter box again and she moves much faster and seems to be overall stronger.

Happy, healing vines to all!

yesterday

deep breaths .. this is not the lowest we've shot before, but it is the lowest consistent curve she's been in since we've started. I can hear that voice saying shoooooot ... so BOS adjusted and we're going to shoot. please watch over us.

Oh, thank you for checking in @Wendy&Neko . I was having second thoughts so I came back to make sure no one was saying, Noooo... don't do it!

Going to shoot. Will check her at +1.

As long as you have plenty of strips, high carb food, and can monitor tonight - this is a golden opportunity to shoot low to stay low.

Got it all covered. Have her some extra food cooking with her enzymes now in case they're needed.

I should have known she was still in low numbers. She was being very vocal (more so than her normal fussiness) about food. I had the sliding door closed (8 feet tall and heavy) and she was scratching at it to get out. Once outside, she likes to trek through the backyard, up the side yard and under the garage door to troll for food from the other cats (they're fed in the garage in an effort to keep things away from Zoey). Well, one minute I hear her scratching on the door, begging to get out and then silence. I thought she gave up until I went to check. Yep, she opened that heavy sliding glass door and as I'm calling her, her little feet are shuffling as fast as they can to make a mad dash to the garage. I had to run to catch up with her before she shimmied under the doors.

Fed her .5 ounces of MC food with a smidge of karo to help prop up those numbers. She does her best drops later in the cycle so 20 points in an hour, with 1.5 ounces of food concerns me. Will check in 1/2 hour

Fed .25 ounce of LC food (enzyme ready) and a full drop of Karo. Will check in 1/2 hour.

Easy Zoey, no rush. Plenty of time left yet.

Sometimes cats will nadir earlier if they are looking for a reducie.

Hoping that I see 'em going up some. All the food she's eating with the additional Karo and she's still dropping has me on edge. I've just fed her a measurable amount of Karo (for future reference) so we can see where it takes her. I gave her 1/4 tspn to .25 ounces of LC food. I have her some MC food cooking in enzymes now.

ETA at 98 so at least making me feel as if there's a response to the actions now. Will not feed anything else and test again in 45 minutes to see how high the karo takes us.

ETA 110 +3.5. not rising very fast so will let her surf and check in an hour to be sure the karo hasn't burned off and she has an unexpected drop.

nice to see all that green on her ss today!

It's ok to let her drop into lower numbers. You don't have to keep her over 100 - i'm not sure if that's what you're trying to do, or if you're worried that you won't be able to pull her up if she gets below 50 . . . but she's safe getting under 100. You're doing a great job of monitoring her!

(sigh) .... no, I wasn't trying to keep her over 100. I was worried about not being able to pull her up with her dropping so early on. she normally doesn't do anything after eating 1.5 ounces of food but go up for at least a few hours but those numbers were falling right out of the gate after the big meal. I read somewhere on someone's thread about their kitty going low and having a hard time bringing the numbers up, even with karo .... so that was in my head, too. Then there's the normal voices in my head .... :banghead:

I messed up the opportunity to keep her in green longer but I learned that the results from Karo are not as quick to show up and the results are not as short lived as I thought. I'm hoping that she's not going to be sky high in the morning.:nailbiting:

g'night all.

ETA: PS ... thank you for checking in on us. I should never forget to say that because our appreciation for you guys is immense. :bighug:

no no no. You haven't done anything wrong. In fact, she's stayed in normal numbers (under 120) just fine - which is super great! I just wanted to find out why you were carbing her. Sometimes it's hard to figure out how to ask questions or pass on info in a way that doesn't make a person feel criticized. I wasn't meaning to criticize you, just to reassure you that it was ok for her to go into the green numbers. It can be quite nerve-wracking when you're starting out.

In everything FD there is another opportunity to do something. You learned something quite valuable - that by giving her carbs you've actually been able to keep her totally flat.

Cats are very different in how carb sensitive they are. You have to experiment to figure out your own cat - which you were doing.

You're doing fine - enjoy a good night's sleep.

I second what Julie said. Zoey was in normal numbers for at least 10 hours today. That's awesome! Lots of pancreatic healing time and helps her body get used to those numbers.

@julie & punkin (ga) .. oh, no! I didn't feel criticized at all. sometimes it's hard to answer without sounding offended and I'm very much NOT offended by any question you ask. Please don't ever hesitate to ask what's in my head. I'm happy to let a few of the voices out once in a while
