Thank you to everyone who stopped by with words of encouragement after yesterday's Acro diagnosis.

Having a little bounce this am after yesterdays lovely greens. Hopefully he will eventually decide that trampolines are not that much fun!

Hi Andrea, I haven't had Toby tested but, suspect that he is acro. He's on 16.5 units now has been as high as 18 units. In Sept. he will be 2 yrs on insulin. Started on PZI then changed to Lev. He's on long term Predinsolone 5mg. for inflammatory pancreatitis. He was one sick kitty when I joined the group. Thanks to the advice and encouragement from
everyone he is pretty much back to his old self again. Can't say enough good things about this group. Hang in there you're not alone.

IAA came back negative! Small victory I guess.
I spoke with the vet today. His IGF-1 level was 112. Although I know it basically means nothing, I am glad to have the number.
I did let he know that I have found a knowledgable support network of people who have dealt directly with Acromegaly and are seeking advice from them.
I told her I was happy with his current progress and would continue on with what I was doing.
I also let her know that if anything "went south" I would be in contact with her.

I was incredibly happy with the conversation!

(((Andrea))) I'm glad you got the IAA result back and that it's negative! It sounds like you were able to convey to your vet where you stand and what his role would be, and that's a good thing since it didn't sound like he had a lot of knowledge regarding acro! Wendy and Julie and the others here have so much experience and knowledge, you are in good hands here, plus we're all here to support you, I hope you know that! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Andrea, happy to hear that the IAA test was negative, one less thing for you to worry about. Good vet report too, makes such difference when they work with you, as against you.

DH said we are about 80 miles from Portland. We are about 20 miles from Waterville and 10 miles North of Skowhegan. If you have heard of any of those places.

Congrats on the negative IAA. Can't say I'm surprised as he's gotten green several times on this dose. With IAA, a dose looks good at first, then I called it "going stale" where it stopped working and you had to keep going up. On the positive side, this means you likely won't have to get into crazy high doses trying to overcome that IAA resistance. Did you get the IAA number? Just me being curious.

Anything over 92 for IGF-1 is positive. Neko was 440. o_O

Cool to have a "close" neighbor.

Wendy, I did not get the IAA number. I was just told the results were negative. The vet also said that I could get a copy of the results anytime I wanted.

I'd get a copy of the results, just in case you need it at some point. I finally started a folder for punkin's medical reports and receipts.

I'm glad the iaa is negative, and that IGF is pretty low - just high enough to be annoying. Punkin's was 281 and his tumor was the largest they had seen at the point we went for the SRT.

Tennie's looking pretty good right now. :)

well, there's one less thing to worry about!! yes, good news! And, I especially envy your mature vet, so glad you don't have the stress of a "IS THAT CLEAR" while you're going through all this! Keep on truckin Tennie, you're doing great. You too Andrea!!
