Noodle has not been feeling well the past couple days. She must have a hairball upsetting her tummy (her usual issue). She vomited a couple times yesterday at AM+4 and PMPS and after each was not very interested in eating. I gave Cerenia and some coconut oil and she pooped (normally) both yesterday and today, but only ate about 3oz yesterday (after what she threw up), and was not very interested in food this morning. I gave Cerenia again as well as 1/8 a tab of Cypro once she kept some food down and that seems to be helping, she's a CPC member so far. She's purring and grooming, but a bit lethargic and seems to be in her "I'm feeling icky" spots, under the bed, on her bed but facing the wall, etc. Hoping she gets out of the funk as the day goes on, but the vet threat is on the table, little one! Vines and hugs to all in need!

Vines for Miss Noodles tummy. The long haired civie here also seems to suffer this time of year. Darn hairballs! I hope you find it someplace easy to clean.

Thanks for the vines, Wendy, Lori, Carla, and Elise. She seemed to be feeling a bit better when I left. It's odd how behaviors that were totally normal pre-FD, get me so worried now. I hope she passed the hairball while I've been gone today (on the floor rather than the furniture!), but not until she digested most of her food!!

ETA: For those of you with black or black and white cats, have you ever noticed them growing more white hairs in their black spots? Not the normal aging spots like the face. I've noticed Noodle getting growing spots of white hair in her black patches on her back and even the base of her tail. Just wondering if this is normal at 7.5-8 y/o or if it's something I should address with the vet.

My GA Mickey was a black cat with a small white patch at his throat. He did start growing the odd white hair on his back at about 8 year old, but I attributed it to age and our vet never mentioned it when I took him in for checkups.

Thanks for the input! It *seems* like there is a decent amount of "new" white hair, but thinking about it, they could have been under there for a while and only more prominent now because she's been shedding so much the past month or two. I'll mention it to the vet the next time I talk to her anyways.

Feel better soon Noodle! I hate hairball season.

Both of my 2 girls have got more white hairs as they've got older. I think it probably started to be obvious when they were around 8 or 9. Regan has more white hair than Rosa, but she's the one who's had a couple of little white patches of fur her whole life so maybe it's linked to that somehow. I suspect it's probably normal as they get older - neither of the vets they've been to has ever mentioned it and I seem to remember the other black cats that I've owned having the same thing happen. I wouldn't make an appointment just for that, but you could of course ask your vet the next time you have her there for something else.

I haven't noticed anything with Furball, but she has so much orange mixed in her fur it's hard to tell. I did have an all black kitty that lived to be 20. He got gray fur mixed in with his black.
