Last thread: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/5-22-maxi-amps-190-6-224.229935/#post-2573880 Maxi drank a lot less yesterday. But this morning he's drinking a lot.
I know climbing the dosing ladder is frustrating, but he needs what he needs. Hang in there, you are doing what Maxi needs for you to do.
Maxi's number was within R range at PMPS but I didn't give R because I thought it was weird that his PMPS number was the lowest number of the day.
@Wendy&Neko and @Marje and Gracie, is there anything wrong with increasing by only 0.25 tomorrow night (after 6 cycles at 8.75)? When the dose went up to 9.25 is when things went bad for Maxi. Maybe it had nothing to do with the dose, but since most of his tests yesterday and today have been yellow, I'd like to increase gently. Thanks
There's nothing wrong with increasing to 9 units if you want to be on the line. But since he only barely saw high blues you have plenty of room to increase by 0.5 units. As far as what he did almost a month ago on 9.25 units, that's ancient history. Since then he's probably had some glucose toxicity build up, and with an acromegalic cat, dose needs are dynamic as the tumour can pulse up and down. Dose according to the current blood sugar numbers, not worth looking at anything older than 2 weeks old data. The goal is green nadirs and most of his time under renal threshold. He's got a way to go. It's OK to take a night off from R, that way you get to sleep more.
