Hello L&L!
I've missed y'all! :)
I will be picking Mr. G from the vet on my way home tonight. I can't wait to snuggle him (even though I'm sure he'll hate it)!!! Rex was super excited to see me last night, so I'm hoping he feels the same. It annoys me how much I've missed them while I was gone.
I had originally scheduled to pick Gordy up yesterday at 9:30am, but had to cancel because I got stuck in London! British Airways was still all over the place on Sunday (from their IT outage on Saturday) and my plane out of Rome was delayed over 4 hours. So, we ended up staying in this not-so-clean Holiday Inn on their dime and got out of dodge via Delta the next morning. It was a tragic ending to our otherwise awesome trip. I slept 9 hours last night and I still feel like I could do with another 24 hours of sleep.
I am more than an annoyed at the Vet again though. They sent me my bill last night and apparently they charged me $10 for each blood test they did with my OWN supplies. No one told that to me either. So I'm peeveddddddd. I'm not paying fees that weren't disclosed and they had ample time to tell me about it. :arghh:

Welcome home! And glad Rex was happy to see you and I am sure Gordy will be too!

The Vet: That is ridiculous to charge you that with your supplies and while you are paying for him to be there and under their care. Geez!!!!

Post when you get Gordy home and get settled as I am curious how he did.

Welcome back. I'm sure Gordy will be excited to see you. That is wrong of the vet to charge you like that. I hope you can get them to see reason.

Welcome back, I am glad you got some sleep. The trip back sounds like a nightmare!

The first time Neko saw her IM vet, he was worried she might be inappetant because her BG was low. She had to stay there for an ultrasound and I reluctantly let them test her BG so he would stop bugging me about it. $50 !:mad: Sheeh, I could have tested in front of them for way cheaper if I had my supplies. Which I didn't cause I knew she was safe. She was blue, which I knew and told him before hand. Never heard anything about the diabetes aspect if things after that.

Scratches to Gordy from me when you see him. You might want to test and post for advice on dose when you get him home. Normally we go back to the last good prevacation dose, unless there are surprises.

Gordy's homeeeee!!!

I havent taken his BG yet, but we are skipping tonight regardless. The vet had been doing shots "roughly between 8 and 830":mad: i can't get him down to his normal shot time of 6 now because of work, so skip is the choice.

My discharge papers say 1 unit and not to change without vet approval. *snaps fingers* i do what i like. ;)

I guess he really was a good boy! Got all A's on his boarding report card. They said he was cranky day 1 but warned up very fast. Everyone praised him. Figures.

Ill let you know his reading when he gets a little bit more settled.

PMBG 300 :(

I am still skipping.

They effed up the vial - theres air bubbles. Good thing it wasn't a fresh one. We'll start over tomorrow and just do the 1 unit. If he gets back down and stays at a safe level, that will probs be dose for a bit, since I know the move will mess him up.

He is oddly relaxed. I feel like I was given a pod-cat.

ETA: i am actually super annoyed they ruined the insulin pen... i know i wrote a long list, but "don't inject air or insulin into the pen" was in all caps. :mad:

That's too bad about the air bubbles. If it bothers you enough, you can draw them up into an empty syringe and expel. I made sure I held the pen upside down with the sponge up while drawing up the air. It worked perfectly.

Boo on the PMBG!

At least Gordy is home and he's not holding a grudge against you! :cat:

I am hesisitent to remove the bubbles since I don't know what they did to get them there. =/

And he is holding one. I think is actually mad that I brought him home. :banghead:

I have a ton of things to do tonight, but I think I caught sone sort of plague and have no energy left. (I am blaming the Holiday Inn with the special edition black mold shower.)

Gordy probably misses everyone cooing over him.

Will you complain about that hotel? It's amazing they are still in business.

My vet just called to chat with me.

Sang Gordy's praises and how he was such a delight. (!!! Why isn't he like that for me??? !!!)

She did give me the numbers they got while testing, but it was sporadic... he was in the blues for his +7s and she is happy with that. And for the next 2 weeks, I will be too LOL.

I am expecting a red preshot in the AM, but I'll try not to get hung up on it.

They want me to keep an eye on his weight. They were giving a little less food at first and he dropped in weight (which he def does NOT need to do at this point) but he gained it back when they gave him more. surprise! I told you he was being fed 3.5 cans of FF a day... for a reason!

I also told her about the pen being ruined. She apologized and said that some of the techs may not have been as familiar with not needing to inject air into the pens. She said she'll let everyone know so hopefully it won't happen to another poor soul. Its not like the insulin is cheap!

Oh well.

Despite my complaints, I really do like my vet. And the cats like them too. God, I hope I can find one like them in FL. Gordy is so at ease there, it makes a world of difference. :(

Oh, she is going to see if the local compounder can give my transdermal Valium for the cats in case they need it for their journey. (Screw the cats... I am using it on myself ;) jk... maybe.)

Now just to finish laundrt so i can go to bed. No job applications for me tonight. Too tired.

Is it a pen? If so, don't worry about them, I had them in mine once and they disappear. Glad he is home with Momma and Rex and good idea to just skip so yu can regain your schedule ASAP.

Welcome home! Glad you had a good trip and Gordy enjoyed his little vacation, too.

In the scheme of things, your boarding experience was better than a lot of them I've had, and that I've heard of. At first my vet didn't charge extra for testing, but after the first few times they started charging $5 for the tech's time. Fortunately (or unfortunately) they didn't test all that much. When I switched to a person that specializes in boarding special needs cats, she didn't charge me extra for anything, and aside from insulin shots and testing, my cats got lots of meds and sometimes subq fluids! Oh, yeah, the vet charged for giving them meds, too.

How did you find that person?

The extra bucks for test makes me crazy! The tech are being paid hourly. Do you think they make the extra 5 bucks or 10 bucks that the office charges for them to test the cat that the bean is all ready paying for?? Oh , it makes me so mad!
