Just returned from Crystal's vet visit. Overall a good report (blood labs attached as new sheet to SS). All blood normal apart from a slightly elevated liver test, which the vet didn't think was a problem. She checked her heart and lungs, which were okay, but as suspected the breathing problems are all in her nasal passage, which unfortunately there is not much we can do about due to the acromegaly. She had a look in Crystal's mouth, commented on the growth of the gums covering her little front teeth but also said she had gingivitis and an infection. Gave her an AB injection (Convenia) for this. we talked about the risk of anaesthetic for her and I really would not go down that route now with her breathing problems. She's put some weight on, just under 6kg now. Had her claws trimmed. Vet was impressed with her SS and we talked about the success of using the R insulin, her good blue and green numbers lately and also told her that it was very likely that Crystal has IAA, which was noted on her file. She didn't think Crystal had arthritis in her hind leg, her manual manipulation was good, so why she favours this leg is another mystery. Crystal behaved impeccably throughout and the vet thinks she is a lovely cat and well cared for. Said I hope not to see her again too soon......

Crystal was obviously stressed by the visit and the car journey so I didn't bother testing her on her return, just gave her some lunch and let her settle down this afternoon before I start poking her ear again. I suspect she will be in the yellow zone so I will probably give her a dose of R tonight at PM.

And it's still raining here .......

So glad Crystal got a good report at the vets. today. You must be relieved. Toby stresses out bad when I have to take him to the vets. We are still getting sunny weather going to be in the 70's today.

So pleased to hear the vet visit went well Suki. And Crystal's kidneys are in good shape which is excellent news. I have been thinking of you and wondering how it was going.
Well done Crystal for being such a good girl and impressing the vet:cat: She would have been pleased to have got home afterwards to familiar territory.

Sorry you still have rain. We had sunshine today for the first time in ages but the ground is still very squishy underfoot.

Happy to hear that Crystal had a good VET report. Hopefully Crystal won't be as high as you think when you test again, hopefully she will be surfing the BLUEs again today, with a bit of GREEN.

247 @ PMPS gave Crystal 2u R - wait and see what effect this has.

@Peg and Toby ,@Tina & Sammy @pollydoodle thanks for looking in guys and checking on Crystal's vet report. As expected she was running a bit high this afternoon but she seems okay in herself, very affectionate and keeps following me around, very glad to be home I think. She honoured us again last night with her presence on the bed, I just love it when I hear her gentle snores next to me, although she does have to compete with DH (who is suffering with a pollen allergy at the moment:() and the dog, who outsnores everyone but I'm so tired I can sleep through it all.

At last the sun has come out, although it might be short lived, and its very warm so having a pre diner glass of wine with all the furbabies on the terrace :) they are so glad not to be stuck inside and are making the most of the sun.

Vines and wishes to all in need.

Thank goodness the vet visit is over, and it sounds like a pretty good one at that. :) Should she ever have to have anesthesia, there are kitten sized tubes they can use. Was there an infection in the gums? Did the vet think that would go away with the antibiotic? FYI, Convenia isn't the best AB for mouth issues, but vets give it a lot because of the convenience. Just keep an eye on it.

Good thing you gave R tonight, where would she be without it! She's probably still feeling vet stress, must need more cuddles.
