2 mornings in a row green :D:D

Sly is eating his different food pretty good (lower fat 8% carb instead of 4-5%) and has had Cerenia for 2 days now. No puking for 2 days and better numbers :joyful::joyful:

Foster mom was busy yesterday so she didn't get a chance to tend to Sly's condo. Foster dad had to do all of the poking too. One of foster mom's adventures was getting this beautiful family off of a late night transport from one of the reservations and to the shelter. Lucky beauties are moving on to better lives! The plight of the people and the animals on some of these desolate reservations in the upper midwest is horrific. There has been a big push for dog rescue from them the last couple of years. I am so happy when I see some kitties getting out too.

What a beautiful start for Sly--and especially, Hooray for no pukus!!!! Go Sly!! :D

What a wonderful picture- I give you all the credit in the world- no way could i work around the rescues, it breaks my heart...

Lookin' good, Sly! And what gorgeous foster babies. I am so thankful for you rescue folks...it is hard work. Our Trixie was our one attempt at fostering...within days, we knew we couldn't part with her. That was over 10 years ago!

Looks like mama jinxed Sly on his green streak. He is passed out in the sun in front of the patio door. He's loving not having his eye dilated for his eye meds on this sunny day.

It is heartbreaking Ruth and I just couldn't do it for so long. But I decided one day that I couldn't be mad that hundreds of perfectly friendly, healthy cats were dying in the pounds if I wasn't going to do anything about it. There are both heartbreaking moments and moments that your heart want to burst with joy for the cats that make it worth it. Our community finally reached a point of no adoptable cat dying in 2012 and that does make it easier. We need to get better on ferals though :(

I am a card carrying member of the foster failure club too Amy! 5 times:smuggrin: These kids won't be my fosters though, we can't risk babies too young for vaccinations in our house with Sly who had a recent and bad herpes outbreak. We also have plenty of people who want to foster cute kittens at both shelters. We foster the mentally and medically challenged adults ;) This family is in a room a the shelter that adopters can go into during open houses, I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they all got apps on them today. They are all so cute.

What cuties! Have you seen the pilot program that Langley Animal Protection Society in Langley, BC is doing? They are doing TNR on a feral colony and setting up the pregnant moms with fosters. That is fantastic that adoptable cats find homes! You should be very proud of that. :) Cerenia is very helpful for tummy issues, I hope Sly continues to do well with it.

what beautiful kittens, and mum, let's hope they find forever homes soon. You, and all the people that work in rescue centres, are doing a wonderful job Melanie. We have the same problem in France, they just don't believe in spaying/castration so every year we are overrun with kittens, far too many to find loving homes for. Sad situation.

Oh my, what gorgeous kitties! I agree, there should be no shortage of people wanting to take them home. I know I do! God Bless you, Melanie, and your compatriots, on what you do for stray kitties. I also am too soft-hearted to go near a shelter or Petsmart on adoption day! Of course, we wouldn't have Cinco if I wasn't such a soft touch!

I'm glad Sly's eyes are doing better, and that the Cerenia is helping his tummy issues. Wonderful stuff. Sending him lots of healing vines.

Swooooon on that rescue family. And good for you. It's hard. Hard to rescue, hard to foster, hard to rehome, and hard to imagine all the creatures that don't find their way to rescue. But just because I can't do everything doesn't mean I shouldn't do something. And you sure are doing lots more than something!

Nice going Sly. Healing vines from here, too.

What a gorgeous group of rescue kitties!! They'll find good homes for sure!

They remind me of someone.....wonder who?...LOL

Sly's looking great too! Keep up the good numbers!!

I did rescue work as a foster home, a transporter and a transport coordinator for many years until my health made me stop. There's no more rewarding "work"....or more heartbreaking....luckily, the joy of finding that purrfect home usually outweighs the pain

Wow, just got on the board tonight and saw your post and the picture of that beautiful rescue family. Kudos to you, Melanie, for the life saving work that you do.
