Yesterday's Powerless Condo

So DH got home last night and got the server back up, but then decided that my PC needed some maintenance, so he spent a couple of hours deleting files and cleaning up "stuff", and by the time I was able to get online, the Board was down!! Glad to see it back up and running. It makes me nervous, as many others have said, when it's down, in case someone needs help. I was watching FB for that reason. The upside of not being able to visit condos was that I got several documents scanned and e-mailed that people were waiting for!

Meanwhile, back at Tricia's House of Chaos (love that, @pollydoodle !):

Cinco was all blue yesterday, but today he waded into the lagoon to coax China a little closer to shore while her bean was away from home. I believe he is now in charge of the BBQ, but I hope he has a "spotter" there to make sure he doesn't burn anything (including himself). With a huge anti-jinx, I am happy to report that we have had no more peeing outside the box for the past 24 or so hours. I got a response from my e-mail to the dermatologist that it would be possible for him to have a UTI while on an AB - Simplecef is used for some UTIs, too, but it might be a bacteria that responds to different ABs. I'm holding off on taking him in for now, but if the behavior comes back, off he'll go. Thanks to @Bron and Sheba for providing a link to some urine test strips. I ordered them and will be happy to have them on hand. Cinco is the easiest one to test that way, as I can tell when he's headed for the box and he can't see me sneaking up on him! It would be nice to be able to use them on Minka, but would be much harder. All that darned fur.

Does anyone think that the AB could be raising Cinco's BG a little? I was just looking at his SS, and right after I started him on it, his numbers started going up a bit - he went green less often and for shorter periods. Just a thought (we all have to find a reason for increased BGs, don't we?).

Minka has had a decent day, appy-wise. However, today was weigh-in day, and both Minka and Sasha have lost a few ounces in the past week. I'm stepping up my habit of bringing them snacks throughout the day, and syringe feeding is still on the table for Minka. I wish I could get them to eat MaxCal, and that it didn't upset their tummies. I may try sneaking a little into Sasha's other food, but Minka will be harder to do that with, as she is very picky about what is in/on her food. Sasha likes the supplement NutriCal, so I'll start that every day for her, but Minka, of course wants nothing to do with it!

@Chris & China, your idea to put cat food in a baby food jar might work if I could find a way to make that popping sound that you get when you first open it. That's what brings them running!

Harvey spit up some tummy acid this morning, right after I gave him his morning dose of Pepcid. That came up, too. I gave him another dose, also in a pill pocket, which he ate, and he ate his breakfast in a couple of sittings. He's been eating well ever since. He looks and acts so normally most times that I keep forgetting he's sick!

Hope you are all having a great Friday. Will try to get around to catch up with everyone through the evening.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans :bighug: Special vines and extra hugs to @Wendy&Tiggy. Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris's DM, Elise's DM and Molly's DM.

It's nice to see Cinco made it to the lagoon today. ABs can make BGs go up. They don't always, but they an. Sending appy vines for Sasha, Minka and Harvey. I'm glad you got everything fixed with your power and computer and got back online.

I'm pleased you liked the urine sticks. I always keep a bottle and I check Sheba if I think she might have a UTI and I check her USG periodically although it isn't as accurate as at the vets using the refractometer but is pretty good. I can also check anyone in the family if they think they might have a uti.

You can make the bottles pop again if you oven sterilise and put the lid on while hot. You wouldn't want to put the cat food in the jar while it was hot though. Hmmmm you could make some empty jars up like that to trick them (I'm not sure they'd be fooled for long but it could be an interesting experiment) - if you have the time!

Eat your fuds girls!

Overall, not a bad report from Tricia's House of Chaos! I'm glad Harvey recovered and Minka's appy is decent. I think weights can fluctuate a little bit without too much worry....keep eating, girls!! Nice dip in the lagoon for Cinco, and yay for keeping your thinking INSIDE the box!! Have a great evening, Tricia!

Thanks for visiting THoC, Carla, Bron, Serryn and Amy.

Ick on the PMPS. I'm going with the AB theory. The bad news is that the course is 30 days, so he has 19 days left on it. This, too, shall pass. I hope.

Everyone ate some dinner - Minka is doing the small amounts plan, so I'll have to remind her to eat some more in a half hour or so. Sometimes she will get it herself (I leave her plate near her), and sometimes you have to put it in front of her face (and hold it) for her. Whatever works. Sasha CPCd. :) Harvey forgot he was being picky until he was about 2/3 of the way through his dinner. Then he suddenly remembered and pushed the remainder off to the side of the plate and left the room. He'll be back when I'm not looking. Cinco, of course, licked his plate so clean you can't tell there was food on it.

if you have the time!
Right!!!! We all know I have plenty of that!

Gotta get moving - I have a cheesecake to make for DH's birthday tomorrow. BBL.

Cinco...you don't needs eyes to BBQ....you needs your nose!! When you start smelling smoke, take it off the fire!!

I can't help with the AB question, but I can remind you that Cinco seems to have his own steps to this dance and usually, that means drifting around a little higher than you'd like and then all the sudden going back down the dose ladder! I think he's just milking his "NDW" for the most bean-crazifying effect

Interesting idea @Vyktors Mum !! Maybe just stick them in the water long enough to get them hot, cap them and forget the "stuffing" part.....LOL

Sending vines to you and the whole crew in the House of Chaos!! I'm glad Cinco seems to have stopped peeing outside the box. I came across a pretty easy recipe for homemade cat food that may be good for the iffy appys. It sounds pretty simple to make. There's a whole cookbook you can order but the one I'm looking at is the sample chicken and shrimp entree. http://www.dinnerpawsible.com/wordpress/sample-recipes/ I hope you all have a good night!

*SIGH* Cinco is NOT cooperating.

@Chris & China, I hope you are right. If he's going to suddenly go back down, he needs to NOT do it tomorrow night, as we are going out to celebrate Mark's birthday with friends.

@Deanna & Billie, thank you for the link. That sounds interesting. I will keep it in mind.

Cheesecake is done and cooling. Time to medicate and hydrate kitties. Then maybe an adult beverage. Or two...
