Last Night's Condo

Back from UCD - it's been a long day. Cinco was green when we left and gave me a nice PMPS after we got home. He had a full blood panel done, and everything looked great. The Oncologist said his BG was in "normal numbers". I forgot to ask exactly what it was, and the discharge notes didn't say. I'll have to get a copy of his labs when I'm there next week. She felt that I was doing everything right about the hot spots. They cleaned up the newer one and shaved the hair around it, but felt the older one was healing well enough. She said I could make an appointment with dermatology if I wanted to try to figure out what was causing them. I do and I did. The soonest they could get us in is next Tuesday at 8:45 am!

This will be a challenge for me, but I'd have had to wait another week for an appointment later in the day than that and I think they should see it while it's still going on. Meanwhile, the aloe vera spray came, so I'll be spritzing him with that. Cinco peed in the carrier on the way there and complained the entire drive.

I had put him in the litter box before we left, but he did not take that opportunity to go.

Sasha's chest x ray looked good - no changes since the last one and no sign of cancer! :):):) She was moving around fine on her front leg while she was there, of course, but the Oncologist gave me some Tramadol to give her if she appears to be having trouble. Overall, she was very pleased with how Sasha is doing and she was the Belle of the Ball, as usual. She even got to see Dr. P, her Radiation Oncologist, who never fails to ask about her when I'm there with one of the other cats. Sasha peed in the carrier on the way home.

Minka was still not eating this morning. I managed to get a little cat food and some baby food down her before I left. When I came home, I didn't realize she'd had diarrhea again (no doubt from all that baby food yesterday), and I stepped in some!

Tracked it all over the carpet in the Family room. Just lovely. Needless to say, she got a couple of gelcaps of Forti Flora. She's eating small bites of her dinner, every few minutes (the plate has to be held up to her face). This p-titis thing does not want to go away. I'm going to send her Oncologist an e-mail if she isn't better tomorrow (we saw a different one today). Maybe she should be seen by IM, although I'm not sure what else they could do that we aren't already doing.

Harvey again didn't like this morning's entree, and I was in a hurry, so he got some Fancy Feast, much to his delight. He ate every bit I gave him, of course. He did eat all his dinner in a hurry - no doubt hungry because Mama wasn't home to give him snacks all day.

Thanks to Carla, Amy, Elise, Bron, Molly, and Rhonda for checking out my late, late condo from last night.

@Shiloh & Rhonda, I actually have one of those inflatable collars. Cinco is a big cat, so I had to get the size for a small dog, and it's just too bulkyand heavy for him. He has enough trouble keeping his head up with the plastic one on!

@MollynSkooter, DH is going to do the cutting on the improvised litter box. There's no way my poor hands could manage it. I just have to get him moving on it! Maybe if I make him clean up the mess Cinco makes?

@tiffmaxee, I'm already giving Minka the max dose for Ondansetron - 4mg per day. I keep forgetting to ask about the injectables. Yes, I'm giving the Cypro twice a day when it's needed. It doesn't seem to help when she's having a really bad day.

I offered her some goat's milk tonight. She was not impressed. Harvey liked it, but then he's the only one that likes cow's milk.

Gotta get dinner going and the in-laws want to Skype. BBL.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Prayers and vines to Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

Whew I get exhausted reading your condo and yesterdays! I admire you and your tenacity- lucky kitties!! :bighug::bighug: Good news for Cinco and Sasha--truckloads of vines for all of them, especially Minka and Harvey--eat your fuds kitties!

WOO HOO on the vetty visit!! Sounds like it was good news all around!!

Double WOO HOO on Sasha still being cancer free!!! Makes all that worry about whether to do the amputation worth it, doesn't it? Of course she's not going to show any signs of soreness while she's at the vet! Kind of like taking your car to the mechanic for going "thunk thunk thunk" for the last week and having it purr like a kitten the whole time they have it.

Hopefully the dermatologists can get to the cause of Cinco's hotspots and that'll be one more worry off your shoulders!

Now if we can just find the magic fairy dust to make Minka's appetite improve, we'll have it made!

Harvey?...well...he's just being Harvey!! :)

sounds like a "wasteful" day.
that couldn't of been any fun at all... you just go from one ugly to another....

glad the news was better so having to do all that didn't just top it off.
Do they make kitty diapers?

I don't know how you do it. But I'm so impressed that you do!

Good vetty visits. Good.

Now, Minka.....I got more appy vines so I'm sending them your way.

Marilyn and Polly

You must be exhausted. I really would ask about injecting a nausea med. If not ondansetron or cerenia there anzamet. They are absorbed better. The only down side is they sting some. I've only tried the cerenia for Tiffany and it did sting her. Some don't mind it. Poor Minka. I sure hope she gets over this soon and that the dermatologist can help Cinco. Mine sure hated those plastic cones and so did my legs that kept getting bumped. I got a soft one for Tiffany that really worked. Do you want the link? The man I bought it from on line gas several sizes.

I'm exhausted just reading about your day Tricia, how you manage to juggle so many balls in the air at the same time is amazing. I hope you see some improvement with the aloe vera, I'll be keeping paws crossed that it works for Cinco.

Thanks for visiting us, Ruth, Chris, Rhiannon, Marilyn, Elise, and Suki.
My dear little Cinco is making us very happy with his visits to the lagoon. We were so worried with two reducies so close together that the second one wouldn't hold, but (ANTI-JINX) it looks like it is!

I also am liking how "safe" the numbers are, because tomorrow I have a hair appointment and will need to leave around +5.5. DH won't be home and he can't use the autofeeder, so I need him to be good! Hear me, Cinco? Mama really needs this, so please, please be good!

Minka has continued to nibble at her food. Not eating much. Just gave her another dose of Cypro.

@Chris & China, so right. Reminded me of when I used to call the copier repairman at work and the copier performed perfectly when he came. At least she still gave me some meds.

@tiffmaxee, I'd be interested in seeing the link. I checked out the soft collars at UCD, and the one I had on Cinco is the largest size they had. I'm open to any suggestions at this point!

I appreciate the empathy from all of you. I don't know how I do it, either. I guess it's just that I don't really have a choice. It really helps me to have that acknowledged, because I often feel like no one understands how hard this is. But I know that the people on the Board do. I am so grateful for having found the FDMB. I absolutely could NOT do this without you all. Thank you so much.

Poor you with all the waste accidents. Those are really not needed in your busy day!:bighug:
Great news at the vets.......fantastic
Hope the dermatologist can sort our the hot spots. Those collars are hard to wear for any animal. Our dog has to wear one when she has a go at her foot which she keeps doing and the collar is cumbersome and gets in the road of everything.
Apply vines and firm poop vines to Minka

The collar I bought was called a Trimline Veterinary Re overly Collar. He hasizesctgat are 5 1/2"? 6 1/2", 8". The toll free phone number is 800-371-0216.

Thanks, @tiffmaxee. I just ordered an 8". The one I have now is 6 inches. It won't get here until Tues, but I figured I could use it in the future, too.

Thanks for visiting us, Bron. I hope all those things, too!

I hope it works for you. They even sell them on Amazon now I see. When I got mine he wasn't that big and didn't even ask for payment until after I got the collar. I see the reviews are mixed. It didn't bother Tiffany at all. Getting the hard plastic one off and on was always a challenge.

Yay for Sasha :):):)

I'm thinking that you should rename the cat carrier and just call it a lb ;)

I'm sorry, I did laugh about the poo trek. I don't know if it's better or worse that I have bare feet in the house, i.e. I know that it's happened so I don't trek so far, but c'mon - it's bare feet uggghhhhhh

I don't have trouble getting it off and on, other than he isn't really cooperative about it! He managed to get it off twice today - I don't think they tied it tight enough at UCD. I also found a site that has what are basically onsies designed for dogs. Don't know why they wouldn't work on cats. There is a vet hospital about 15 or so miles away that it lists as carrying them, so I'm going to call them tomorrow to see if they have them. If so, I might go over on Friday and get one.

@Vyktors Mum, I may have to call them that, as I can't seem to get the pee smell out of them!
icon_rolleyes.gif

I often go barefoot around the house, or wear light slippers. Today I was just home, so I still had my "outside" shoes on. They were the kind with lots of tread on the bottom, so getting all the poo out was a challenge.
icon_neutral.gif
I swear that smell is now stuck in my nose. Ewww!

I think we're all ewwwwwing with you!

My best solution for pee smell is to scrub with white vinegar and bi carb soda

Great news on Sasha. It sounds like Cinco's vetty visit went well. I hope the dermatologist can figure out what's causing the hot spots. Sending appy vines for Minka. You do an amazing job with your crew. It's not easy having a multi-cat house and it's even harder when you have cats with medical conditions.

Yo, Cinco
Glad your vetty visit went well. They are a challenge.
Sending Meows & purrs to your brothers & sisters.
See you at the Lagoon!
Cuz Michael:cat:

Tricia,
Your furbabies are so lucky to have you, you do an amazing job!
