Juba's condo from yesterday:

Well last night I thought I gave Juba a fur shot (last night we increased her to 1.25 units) but it appears that at +7 she dropped over 100 numbers!
So perhaps I didn't give her a fur shot then??

Anyways this morning is her vetty visit, and I did give her breakfast this morning along with her insulin, and her appointment is 3.5 hours later.
I couldn't get an appointment early in the morning.

I requested for Juba to receive a full senior wellness check up and chem panel. Along with testing her blood pressure and T4 thyroid.
Hopefully we'll get some answers (good thoughts!) and things that can be treatable if something is going on with her.

I'm a mess this morning, my husband forced me to go shower and I felt better after that.

Good vibes and thoughts this way to our family! ❤️

Here's Juba's lab results:
There's a few things that aren't the best with her lab results...
her BUN is elevated :(
What does everything suggest, think?
Is she in kidney failure?

Hi Kadie - any chance you could load the lab results onto the Labs tab of the spreadsheet? You may have to adjust the reference levels to whatever your lab used, but it's much easier to read the results on the spreadsheet. If you have any previous results it also helps to see the trends. From what I can see, her creatinine is still in range, so I wouldn't worry about kidneys just yet. Her BUN is high, but she could have been dehydrated.

I am glad she came down a bit last night. You might have been seeing a bit of NDW.

I hope you have more results than that. A full panel should include the superchem, CBC, T4, and urinalysis. It will help immensely, as Wendy suggested, if you can add them to the lab tab. Not only does it help with reading them but it also allows you to easily compare lab results to notice any trends.

I unfortunately don't have more results than what I uploaded :(
I asked my vet if Juba needs a full CBC and the vet said it wasn't necessary...
(I probably should have asked for it regardless!)
Her T4 is at the tippy top of the page, but I'll add all this information to the LABS section of my spread sheet.

I could see the labs. T4 is great! BUN is something I don't worry about. My civvie Tanner always has a BUN in the 40's. Creatinine looks great. I am not good with understanding the other numbers. Kidneys and thyroid seem fine.

Thanks so much for the wonderful reply Mandy!! When I first received the results my heart just sank, but after talking with all of you here I am so more at ease and accepting the results.
Juba's cholesterol was also on the higher side too, but I'm not sure if that's a real worry just yet?
Let's hope this new dose increase (just started 1.25 units last night) will get Juba's numbers into at least under 200!
❤️

Hey Kadie!! Juba's looking pretty good to me!!

Check out the labs sheet on China's.....she's got higher triglycerides and her BUN runs a little too high too

I know we talked on Facebook about getting an SDMA test if it would make you feel better. It's fairly new so the only time I have results for China is the last time we did bloodwork (and she's past due for bloodwork too....I'm a bad mama)

Thanks so much Chris!!
I'll definitely look into the SDMA test to see where Juba is at with her kidney function.

And you are definitely NOT a bad car mama!! ❤️ One of the best!!

I will call and ask if they can obtain those.
Should I have this test down now, or wait until her next blood test in about 3 months?
I’d probably wait. It looks to me like your vet might have run the labs in-house. When you do get the labs done again, I’d ask they be sent to a lab and do a superchem, cbc, and urinalysis. If your vet uses IDEXX, they will automatically run the SDMA with the superchem but if she uses Antech, they will not as they don’t do that test. In that event, you might not be able to get an SDMA.

My vet uses Antech, but they have an account with IDEXX so when they ran China's bloodwork, I had them send off a special sample for the SDMA .....I've been surprised (not sure why after learning how much vets don't stay up to date) but many of the vets in this area have never heard of the SDMA so you may have to educate your vet too

Okay, sounds good.
When I requested to have a complete full senior chem panel preformed, apparently my vet thought this panel was enough, lol.
I just moved back from Idaho, and my other vet over there preformed a full senior chem panel with Juba, complete with a guided urinalysis and everything.
If my current vet isn't aware of the IDEXX, or Antech, or hasn't ever heard of the SDMA...should I go with a different vet?

There's actually a feline only vet in the local area I just discovered...I'm not sure if this would make a different in terms of anything, but I thought that was interesting!

That's up to you. It depends on how worried you are about her developing CKD.
