Last condo 6/1

I mentally wrote Purrdy's condo a couple of times this week. By Thursday morning, after he'd had a couple of yellow preshots and we hadn't seen green for a few cycles, I thought it was going to say was - no surprises here Purrdy continued to creep up and got another increase - but then he did surprise us and turned green again on Thursday night :D:cat::D:cat:

Still no sign of my boss coming back. He's away until at least the 19th now and his boss tells me he doesn't really think he'll be back then either. Purrdy will be arriving for his 6 week stay that weekend so it's going to be interesting if he's not back. I've told them I will do my best but Purrdy comes first. I'm lining up a work laptop and planning to work from home most mornings and just go in for the afternoons once I know that Purrdy's safe. I am very lucky that I can sort out an arrangement like this - and they are very lucky that I'm willing to!

I've spoken to my vet and mum about Purrdy and we have decided not to test for high dose conditions. My vet is happy that he is so well controlled even if he is creeping up the dosing scale. Realistically even if we went through extensive testing and whether or not it was able to confirm or deny anything, the answer for Purrdy would still be the same - give him more insulin as required. However, he does agree that it would be worthwhile to do a urine culture. Purrdy is good at the vet so it will be nice to take in a kitty that can be handled for a change!

Vyktor's eating continues to be up and down but he does seem to be eating enough to sustain himself - even if most of it does need to be delivered and/or hand fed. I'm thinking that once we're 8 weeks into the Plaque Off, so it should be at full bacteria preventing effect, I'll give Vyktor another course of ABs to ensure there's no lingering infections and then, fingers crossed, he'll be back on track.

Meg is her usual gorgeous self, although I'm thinking she probably won't look so pretty after the gravy trap is sprung - naughty kitties!

Good job averting the dosecrease threat Purrdy!

Testing isn't that extensive - testing for acro is a blood test, just like any other. If you aren't going to get a test, I'd just make sure you keep an eye on his heart. Cardiomyopathy is common with acros, and can sneak up if you aren't watching for it. Plus it's treatable with meds. Acromegaly also means being aware of other issues with soft tissue growth. Some get narrowed airways and if he ever needs anesthesia, kitten sized intubation might be needed. You may or may not be able to test for IAA there, they can't get that test in Europe. Regardless, it's a condition that often self limiting in about a year. If you know he has it, it just means being attentive if the IAA breaks - but both you and mom test enough for that. And you are correct that keeping his blood sugar under control is the most important thing of all.

Good to hear Vyktor is eating enough. I hope his weight is stable.

It's great to hear Purrdy got back to the lagoon. I hope he heads there again soon. I'm glad Vyktor is eating enough.

Thanks Wendy I will make sure the vet checks his heart when we go in for the urine culture and yes Vyktors weight is holding steady :)

Purrdy was listening Carla :D

Glad Purrdy is doing so well and I'm sure he's so excited to see his Auntie Serryn and play with Vyktor and Meg.

Poor Meggie and the other bunnies...those plotting cats!!!!

What a great surf!

Purrdy, you stinker. Make the beans sweat before you show them the good stuff! Tricky little guy aren't you?

Seems good news with Vyktor. Eating, even if meals are catered. Holding his weight.
