Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos:

Cinco reminded me this morning that he doesn't like it when I sleep late.

. He really was ejoying himself in the deep end and didn't want to come back toward shore. No sharks, fortunately, but he said something about mermaids.

I think he's just hung over from the party last night. I hear it was quite a bash. I decided, after the third reading in the 50s to give him a teaspoon of the d/d duck, which is 17%, along with his LC. It brought him up to 70. Much more comfy. Good to know. He really liked it, but then again, he's super hungry this morning and demolishes everything I put in front of him. Guess he's "settled into" this dose! :joyful::D Now it will be interesting to see if he repeats that evening pattern tonight. I guess if he does, I could blame it on a bounce from this morning's hijinks.

I tried the duck on Harvey again this morning. Not a fan. The girls like it, though. At least it won't go to waste, and Sasha could use the benefits as she's always been a bit itchy. We'll give the venison another try for him. Silly Harvey. Everyone else in the house likes it, even Minka! What's wrong with you???

Minka was clearly miserable last night. She only ate little bits through the day, and even after the Cypro and Cerenia, her appetite only improved a little - although she did eat that whole serving of d/d duck I gave her. It was downhill after that. I gave her a shot of Ondansetron late last night, and some Bupe. I also gave her 100 mls instead of 50mls of fluids. I was really concerned about her, as she just laid there, with that quiet purr going that means she doesn't feel well. She finally fell asleep, and she was curled up and looked more comfortable, so I went to bed. This morning she looked better, but her appy is still not up to 100%. She did eat her breakfast, after the tummy meds kicked in, and just had a small snack. I'm going to do her fluids shortly and hope she'll eat a little more. I backed her Pred down to 2.5 a day, which has been her dose for ages, but if she has another day like this I may go back up to 5 mg (2.5 bid).

Sasha did really well with her breakfast this morning - she really likes the duck a lot and I didn't have to garnish it until the last few bites. :)

I just happened to mention the Mauri to the owner of the independent pet store where we shop and she said I can get that. She had a sample can each of kangaroo and brush tail and she gave them to me. Mike just picked up the case of kangaroo small cans. I can send you some to try, if you wish. I'd try to find an independent pet store and see if they can order it.
@Marje and Gracie, thanks for the offer. Rhiannon is sending me some of the kangaroo to try. Great idea on the independent pet stores - there's a little one in Fairfield, the next town over, where they are very accommodating. They ordered me some of the Answers fish broth to try (no one liked it

). If Harvey likes it, I'll ask them to order it. If they really are that low in carbs, it might be worth trying on Cinco - the dermatologist did think a novel protein might be a good answer to the recurring hotspots. Please let me know about the LID turkey. I didn't buy the chicken, as my crowd doesn't seem to like just chicken (they'll eat it paired with herring), but I got the salmon and turkey. I know you don't do fish with Gracie, but if the turkey doesn't raise her BG, the salmon is probably LC, too.

Today is weigh in day, so I'm going to go do that before fluids.

Hope everyone is having a good Fursday.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Extra prayers and vine to Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM and Elise's DM.

It sounds like Cinco wanted some extra attention this morning. I hope he keeps surfing for you. I'm sorry Minka is feeling so bad. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Carla. Minka just had a nice little snack with her fluids. She seems to be perking up just a little. Still purring, though.

I just found the first hairball I've ever seen from Cinco! He doesn't like to be brushed anymore, and it has been hot, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. I have one of those nubby gloves that he lets me rub him down with a few times a day, but I guess it's not enough. I just chased him all over the sofa with the brush, until he finally started swiping at me. Funny thing is, he seems to be enjoying it for a few seconds, and then it's like he remembers he doesn't like it! I also think his back end is sensitive, since he doesn't like to be touched on his hips, thighs or rump, and as soon as the brush gets close to there, he starts swinging. I got a decent amount of hair off him before he got too upset with me.

WOOT!! Very nice cycle Cinco. :D:D:D:D Neko's not fond of the back half comb, especially the pants. Good thing you had the gloves on. The zoom groom seems to be gentler for her.

Feel better and appy vines for Minka. Harvey - stop pretending you are so fussy!

Good luck with the fuds acquisition. I find the smaller stores are so much more willing to try to get something in for me.

Ok on the kangaroo. I'm not sure when I'll try the turkey but as soon as i do, I'll let you know. The ingredients, other than the meat, are similar so my guess it it's also LC.

Cinco---Too much drama that early in the morning!! :D:p:D Tiger used to love being brushed but during this hot weather she seems to hate it so I take a damp warm towel and rub her down to get the excess hair off of her. For whatever reason that toweling bothers her less than the brush on her butt and backside... Hope Cinco feels better, are the hot spots gone?

Tons and tons of vines for Harvey to eat, and for Minka to feel better, hugs and prayers being sent as well! You are amazing Tricia! :bighug::bighug:

Cinco, Cinco, Cinco. Not that low, silly boy.

Vines for Minka. Appy, feelallbettersoon.

Harvey...it's not nice to be so persnickity. Eat!

Marilyn and Polly

Thanks for visiting us, Wendy, Marje, Ruth, Marilyn and Rhiannon.

Minka has eaten a bit more. She ate her dinner in two sittings. I went ahead and tried the Merrick LID turkey - figured Gracie shouldn't be the only guinea pig! Everyone like it, even Harvey! So we'll see what it does to Cinco's BG. He's certainly starting out low enough. :)

@Tiger and Ruth, ANTI-JINX, I think the hotspots are healed. I haven't caught him messing with them, and the skin looks dry and normal. I soooo hope we're done with this! Maybe that fish oil helped. It certainly made his poo runny. I'm gonna cut out the squash for now and add more Forti Flora.

Shadow, you is right! Don't mess with my back end, 'speshly not with no brush!!! Head and neck is okay, though. Until it isn't.
- Cinco

So Cinco's one of those too? I swear I think China and him are related! She's fine with the head, neck and shoulders....get too close to the waist or further down and you're going to have a fight on your hands!

Nice PMPS tonight, especially considering the day he gave you!

Come on now Cinco...nice gentle slide tonight....Mama's had enough of your hijinx for one day!

Oh, Cinco and Shasta must be brushing soul mates! Except Shasta has never liked to be brushed. I get the swats, hisses and growls...all the while, I just talk as sweetly as I can to her and tell her how much better she'll feel if she'd just let me get a few more brush strokes on her!!! Lovely numbers for Cinco today! Sleep well, Tricia!

Thanks for visiting, Chris and Deborah. Yup. Sounds like the three of them are kindred spirits.

Well, either the new food is not LC, or Cinco is following the same pattern as he has the past two nights. Anyone have any idea what's going on with that? Up after shot, then down only slightly? WTH??? And what do I do about it???

I hope they like the kangaroo as much as Max seems to. I'm going to buy some tomorrow.

Is Minka still getting chemo? Appy vines for her.

I just gave Max some Mauri venison and he loved it too.

@Chris & China, a bounce the past two nights and tonight, too? Just weird.

@tiffmaxee, no. Minka finished chemo a month ago. She's still having appy issues - due to p-titis, mostly.

I need Cinco to be good tomorrow during the day - we're going to join some of our wine tasting friends for lunch and a visit to our favorite winery. We'll be gone from about +3 till close to PMPS. These games he's playing make me nervous.

If that was a bounce, it was pretty minor! I hope he cooperates today so you can enjoy the afternoon out. We have a mixed bag here with brushing...some of 'em love it, some of 'em hate it. Sending more vines for Minka.....and hopefully the whole crew will continue to enjoy the new fuds!!

Max loves to be brushed until he decides he's had enough and then he swats at me or tries to bite. And if I hit a knot, watch out. It always seems to surprise me because until this last year he never got knots in his fur.

Tricia are you giving Minka the ondansetron and cyproheptadine every day? When Max first got pancreatitis he needed daily cyproheptadine. Vines for the little girl. I wish the vets understood pancreatitis better and would work on drugs specifically for cats. Oh, and for Harvey, the Mauri venison was a hit last night.
