? 8/11 Post DKA Millie AMPS 365, +4 134, +6 51, +6.25 38, 6.5 83!!! Back to low numbers!!!

I was away on vacation & Millie's dose was lowered to 1u, during which she had high numbers. Got back Tuesday and raised the dose to 1.25. Today her numbers were AMPS 365, +4 134, +6 51. I will be testing again in 10-15 minutes. Issue is, 1u is too low but 1.25 is also bringing her low, what to do with that???

You could try a dose in between using digital calipers. That's what I did for Max.

We posted at the same time. That's good, but don't get complacent. She could still drop again. I would give her a little MC and test again in 30 minutes. 62 is still lower than you want on an AT.

Yes, I'm staying with her. She's hungry and I turned around a minute and she was up on the counter licking the HC sauce! I'm trying to monitor and not feed too much until I test her again. Should I let her eat to wait?

It's just a few minutes until the next test is due. Hopefully she can hold out that long. But it's great that she's wanting to eat. Most cats will want to eat when they are low, but it could just be that she likes that "forbidden" stuff!

Did you let her eat? If so, once she's had all she wants, I'd withhold food and test again in 30-60 minutes, then again either 30-60 after that, depending on what you get. Keep in mind that first test would be food-influenced. It's late enough in the cycle that she probably won't drop again, but she is a cat, after all, so don't bank on that!

Yes, I gave her food but she wasn't hungry any more (of course, lol!). I'll remove the food. I have to run out for an hour and will test when I get back. TY!

Maybe try a fat 1u instead of 1.25 u. Draw up insulin to just under but touching the 1 u line on the syringe barrel.

Yes, she'll definitely bounce. The bounces just don't last as long. Then I can do a curve to see how she's really doing on the 1u.
