He cleared the last bounce in 4 cycles (yesterday's am cycle) which brought him to 112 and is a good AT number. Tomorrow would be the 4th cycle but who knows if he would follow a pattern and decide to break the bounce. Just noting it so if you do increase tomorrow to be aware. You watch him close enough so if you decide to increase think it's fine to do so.

I was thinking the same thing about clearing the bounce tomorrow. I'll see what today brings and decide from there. I just want to stay ahead of the numbers (seems like he's making progress - clearing bounces quicker & getting to lower numbers more consistently).

So after all morning of researching foods, I have come up with 3 possible choices. I limited my selection to those available at petco because I'm not sure if they will eat them. I want to try a can or two before ordering online, so chewy is unfortunately out at the moment.

1. Organix - grain free chicken pate: 31P - 65F - 4C - 182Phos
2. Soulistic - pate & shreds chicken: 31P - 65F - 3C - 154Phos (not sure about pate & shreds mixed, but leaning towards this one)
3. Tiki Cat - Koolina Luau: 84P - 16F - 0C - 149Phos (was thinking about maybe 1 can a day to raise the total protein value - he eats 2 cans a day)

Gizmo's current food - 40P - 56F - 4C - 373Phos (fish) ... due to high phosphorus and bun levels on bloodwork, looking for a new food (no fish).

Thoughts/Suggestions?

I started introducing the Tiki Cat Koolina Luau, both my kitties like it, but I'm trying to give it at the late night before bed feeding to see if it helps keep Maverick's BG level down overnight. Good numbers for Gizmo today, he sure didn't bounce too badly I think?:D

It's good you have those food options available. I didn't in this part of Canada. One thing to consider is the total number of calories. I found of the lower phosphorus foods were lower calorie so I had to feed more of them. For the first couple years after Neko's CKD diagnosis she was eating raw, so I just made sure I fed the ones without bone. After her lymphoma/heart condition diagnosis she gradually went off raw and the canned fuds hunt was on. Raw is also calorie dense so I didn't need to get as much volume in. When her appy was iffy, it became difficult getting enough calories in.

As for dose, I might give him another cycle unless he is bounce breaking, but if you don't see better tonight I think you can increase tomorrow. Although low blue yesterday is nice, there is still room for an increase.

I was thinking of using the tiki cat for the +6 feedings and maybe the +3 feedings. Gizmo isn't bouncing as high or as long anymore.

The 3 choices of food are all very close in calories to what he is eating now. So I'm thinking that should work out as well. He probably will decide he doesn't like them. Although, he seems to eat pretty much anything. (Antijinx)
The plan is to increase tomorrow morning unless he gets green tonight. He seems like he might be clearing the bounce, so we shall see what happens. (Antijinx).

Go Gizmo! :) Cool name, too.... Is Gizmo a Russian blue? Gorgeous colour and eyes...
Thanks. Nope, Gizmo is just a neighborhood kitty. My husband seen him at the neighbors and said if you want a cat, that's the one. He was this cute little kitten with a very pudgy belly. My neighbors called him rolly-polly because he would fall over trying to clean himself. My mom and I bathed him (by dunking him in and out of a bucket). He didn't mind and I just remember being shocked by how tiny he really was. His nickname is Chubba because my family always used to say about how huge our cat was. He has lost a few pounds since his diagnosis. I would always defend him and say he's just a big kitty and he truely was. He is such a sweet, lovable little guy!

Now my civvie, has an interesting story also. She was a stray that showed up on my mom's porch. My mom tried several times to get her to move on, but she just wouldn't. So she took her with her as she took out the garbage (we always say she took Daisy out with the garbage, but she was really bringing her across the road to our neighbors barn where all the strays hang out). Well, Daisy thought our back porch was my mom's back porch. So she showed up and I thought for sure she was starving to death. My husband said we have to feed her or she will be dead. We could see her belly contracting ... it was so gross. I said if we feed her, we are keeping her. So, that's how we ended up with 2 cats within a few months.

We had a bunny also and they all got along. Now that's another story. Sorry for rambling ... just made me think back to their kitten days and I started reminiscing.

What great stories! Sounds like your kitties knew where to go to find their dream home. They're lucky to have you!

I chose Girlie when she was just a baby, but Max - well, Max was a blow in. He came in to eat her food; it took me about a month before he felt safe enough to even come near me. He'd clearly had a hard life on the streets and been treated very badly by men; it took him over two years to get over his fear of them, and he's still cautious. I wouldn't give him to the RSPCA because they said they'd put him down, but they told me that if I kept him, they'd microchip and desex him. Poor Max: he took one look at the RSPCA guy at the door and went flying. I grabbed for anything cat, got his tail, he turned in terror and half bit through my finger, and I ended up in hospital with a massive infection. But we eventually got him sorted! My flatmate wanted him, then dumped him on me when he moved out. Girlie was NOT impressed and has always had an iffy relationship with him.

He now channels some inner Siamese in his moggie (Tabby) history and talks non-stop, which can be a bit much. He's also a velcro cat, so he's not happy in exile. But he's a hoover and Girlie's a grazer, so for now, he's barred. We'll see how we go...poor guy. Girlie is really happy that he's barred, though, and when we have play dates in the garden or late afternoons in my room, she makes it clear that he is not the beloved child...sigh... Sometimes I wonder if he wouldn't be happier in a loving home where he could have conversations and cuddle all day long, but I'm worried that he might not be cherished elsewhere. He's also probably about 15 years old, so I don't know if anyone would even want an older cat. In great shape, though! My vet wants to know what my cats' fountain of youth is as they both look amazing for their ages. I tell her it's their Drinkwell Avalon water filter: I swear by its hydration benefits. Both cats adore it and disdain normal water bowls now... :-)

Go Gizmo. It looks like you're doing a great job with him. He's a beautiful kitty...
