Last condo led to today's condo with Rex's lowest number in 2 months. He must have realized I wasn't happy with that blue AMBG 2 days ago.

I prepped raw ground chicken with the 4 samples of EZ Complete last night and gave each cat 1/2 tsp mixed in with their canned food this morning. Keena hurled immediately. Do I try again? :arghh: I have over a pound of chicken to use. What is the best way to do it for Keena? He has always had a sensitive tummy, but this would help my civvie Tanner with his possible IBD. I will get his pancreatitis and cobalamin test results back today. When I brought him to the vet for the blood draw, I had them weigh him again and he lost nearly 5 ounces in only 4 weeks. :(

Well, you certainly gave a small enough amount to help with them accepting it . Is chicken something he normally ate canned? I would try again because the hurling could have been something else. Maybe a hairball to come up soon.

How did the other cats do with it?

I got instructions on how to introduce raw food and it said to start with 1/2 tsp mixed with their regular food. The other 3 cats were fine. Friskies Mixed Grill is what I give and that has liver and chicken in it. Keena just has a super sensitive tummy. I will try again when I get home from work for their next meal.

Keena isn't one to have hairballs. I don't think I have ever seen him vomit a hairball. He's a Ragdoll so he doesn't shed as much as the others.

Good luck when you try it again. Fingers and paws crossed.

Some kittties need to have the raw at room (mouse) temperature to start. Maybe add a little bit of warm water?

I had it in a baggie with warm water running over it and it felt the same temperature as the canned food that I always add warm water to. I'm hoping the 2nd time around goes better. :nailbiting:

At least Keena got sick on the wood floor instead of on the carpet, right in front of me so it was cleaned up right away.

Maybe start with even less...EZ has green lipped muscle and that is new to most cats who have been commercial wet. Also, once they are eating more and more raw you may get a vomit of hairball - it's basically a detox of sorts. Not often but once or twice then their body's work it out. My civvie had a combo of the worlds largest hairball, watery eyes, and itchy ears. Detoxification. It only lasted a day or so and now all is well. Just take it very slow...once they get used to the enzymes they will thrive! Slow and steady...good luck!

As per Susan's comment on the green lipped mussel, maybe try a small bit of just plain raw chicken without EZC and see if he can handle that.
Good suggestion.

Last night, while the cats were having their night meals, I was prepping the mix and Keena sniffed the air (it was above his head on the counter) and he seemed really interested. But then he left the kitchen... Cats! o_O

Update : It didn't go as planned. I put less than 1/2 tsp and it was half plain and half mixed in Keena's dish with all mixed in the other dishes. Keena didn't want to eat much of his food so he has eaten out of all dishes. I hope he does okay. I'll know in less than 10 minutes. :nailbiting:

Just as I thought, Keena hurled, but he sure liked the food. Tonight will be plain because he will be very hungry and he needs to keep it down.

You could also try lightly boiling the chicken before cutting it up in chunks...slowing getting him used the "raw" in general. I did this with Jimmy for his testing treats. By the time I started EZ he was already used to the raw concept.

I already mixed all the sample with the raw chicken. I haven't bought a bag yet because I want to see if it's worth trying. It's ground chicken. Would it work if I take a bit and cook it even though it's already mixed?

Keena isn't happy with me tonight with me putting his dish in front of him every time he wants to go eat from another dish. But I didn't want him to hurl all his meals today.

On a side note, we're now dog sitting until Friday night. He has never been around cats so it's going to be challenging to teach him to leave them alone. Rex is kinda too comfortable with him. Gabe has run after him once and nipped in a playful way another time. :nailbiting:

Mandy- I'm going to be following your expereinces with this raw feeding as I may try it once I get Murphy stablized. Fingers crossed the hurling stops
