? 8/4 - 8/17 TiTi has pancreatitis again

Started about a week ago, so I increased her Cerenea to a daily dose. Now she's eating happily again, so I should be pleased, but I'm not. She seems frailer, but I could just be over-vigilant. I lost 2 of my cats so recently that it's possible I am just a little hyper about things right now.

?? I am a bit concerned about something I read about acro in cats. I forget my source, but it said that they live an average of 3 years. TiTi was diagnosed on 03.17.2014. It's over 3 years now, and I am wondering if anyone knows how much I should credit the 3 year prognosis. ??

That sounds like a question for @Wendy&Neko . But I do know that ECID, and an average is just that - some cats live fewer years, and others many more.

It really depends on the tumour output volume and what changes the growth hormone and IGF-1 are doing. ECID. Some acrokitties get heart conditions and go quickly, others don't and they pass from some other age related disease. Most of the acros are a little older to start with. How old is Titi?

Yes, Red Rory - I posted his picture. He also had heart disease. The other was Rudy my rescue Red Aby. cancer we think. Both went down so fast.

Did you try the Canna For TiTi? Are you using any pain meds and nausea pills?

cerenea and ondannestron when she was nauseated. I have the canna, but since TiTi isn't showing any signs of pain, I'm reserving it.

Cats are very good at hiding pain. Neko became quieter and slept more when she was in pain. It wasn't obvious at first. When I addressed the pain, she interacted more with us and started playing again. Pancreatitis can also be painful. Might be worth an experiment.

Hello I'm not sure about that but I did look at your signature and saw that you give lactulose. I saw constipation listed and you also give Miralax. I had my cat block and had to be manually evacuated which wasn't fun at that time I was giving her lactulose. Was a little worried because it is like a sugar it is used for softening stools however I was told that I shouldn't worry about it because it is a synthetic sugar and it will not stay in their system but guess what, my cat ended up with diabetes. Now I can't say it was due to that but I do know that after first thing diagnosed and then having taken away the lactulose the numbers went down and she seem to feel better. Having read about lactulose, I found that it can cause belly upset. I just felt like she was having gas pains when I took the lactulose away, her numbers went down significantly and she was acting like herself again. However I was concerned with the hard stools and after a few weeks I started giving her one eighth of a teaspoon in her morning meal and 1/8 in her nighttime meal. Now realizing ECID, I just wanted to put that out there having found that the lactulose was not a good choice for my cat. I wish you and your kitty well

I only gave it in emergencies. She's not had any for 5 months. And , yes, the sugar in it is probably not negligible. I rely on pumpkin and miralax now. <y TiTi had 4 manual evacuations, before I figured out how to keep her regular. Whew - nightmare I know.

Isn't it? Yeah I vowed that I would do everything in my power that she would never have to go through that again and so far so good. But I just wanted you to know and I'll know at this as well but I'll just give you what worked for me, but I think I saw your feeding some dry I'm not sure, but if so I stopped treating dry yesterday was two weeks and I absolutely cannot tell you the difference in my cat. Her numbers have dropped dramatically and we went from 3 units twice a day to one unit twice a day amazing we just don't know how bad that dry is, it's nothing but empty calories

She's been off dry food for about 2 years. It did make a huge difference in her numbers. Down from 14U lantus to 8 in a few weeks!
