I have another charge. Deandra is living in the kitchen at the shelter since we still have Sly. I have set up a spread, but am on my phone.

Food was switched from SD dry to Wellness Duos last night at shot time. I am unsure when the dry was last fed. Yes, Duos is still 15%, but it was the best here and the shelter has 4 pallets, plus I thought he'd dose a bit high.
Vet prescribed 2u for an emaciated 6lb cat with a terrible URI. I dang near died, shelter manager talked to a different vet and she agreed to 1U.
Deandra is a sweet love bug, anyone want her? :)

In about 5 min she will be at +1 and I will retest and see if maybe 0.5 is needed. She has been eating. But making sure she would eat was one of my concerns.

This is going to be a new dance with her at the shelter!

@+13 she was 158 so I gave 0.5. Would have liked to see a little more of a rise before adding insulin, but don't want to see her back at 400+ tonight either.

Wet food is so nummy.

Oh what a cutie!

I feel for you in this situation Melanie - you can't please everyone all the time. Easy to say when I don't have to face it tho'....HUGS!

She's pretty flat. It would be quite lovely for her to spend her first day under 200 :joyful:
Glad it is my cleaning night at the shelter. I will be back there at +7 through around +10.

She is SO skinny and all her hair is coming out. The pound couldn't guess her age due to her condition, but said from her size they thought around 1-2 years. I'd look at her and say she looked like a little old diabetic cat 'cause she couldn't put on weight and it made me want to poke her in the ear. Guess I should have went with that feeling :woot: Thankgoodness someone noted the high water intake along with high urine output.

OMG Melanie, you are such an angel for all you do for these kitties, bless your heart! I have to admit, I am sitting here with tears in my eyes, Deandra looks so much like Tiger, especially how skinny she was upon diagnosis. Seriously, Im crying my eyes out here... Those shelter people better be listening to you!

I hope all is well with Sly, he was a sweetie too!

Transport could ABSOLUTELY be arranged ;)

When I got to the shelter for cleaning tonight Deandra was running around, not confined to the kitchen. She'd gotten into ISO to eat the dry food out of her old kennel and I am sure roamed underneath all the kennel banks in there and in the other intake room to eat all the hard food that never gets swept up :arghh:

Sly is his usual sweet snuggly little monster self. He has earned himself the label of needing to be adopted as an only cat in the house so that has made him that much harder to adopt. Cecil has gotten so sick of him picking on other cats that he has started to beat the tar out of him if he hears him picking, or some days just for kicks. He's unfortunately got two little chunks out of his ear now and we can't leave him and Cecil alone unattended. They both have resorted to marking the house to make their claim to boss
