Steve called this morning and said Harvey's sodium was back to normal - for now. They are still watching it closely, as it doesn't seem to want to stay there. He is still somewhat out of it, and they aren't sure why. We are going to go see him this evening. I'll report back after the visit.

Thanks so much for all the support. It's getting harder and harder to stay optimistic, as this keeps dragging on. I know I keep saying it, but I don't know how I'd get through this without all of you pulling for my baby. . Love you all. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yay for sodium being ok and hoping that it stays that way! Here't to everything getting back into balance. Come on, Deputy Harvey! You can do it!

Hang in there, Tricia. We are sending lots and lots of vines for Harvey.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Good news about the sodium sending vines so that it stays put:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'll keep piling on the vines for a speedy return.:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Come on Harvey, we all miss you :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Piling on yet more vines, you can never have enough. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: He's probably down because he misses you.

Hey Harvey's sodium - stay down there where you are supposed to be!

Thank you, everyone. Dr. Ragan (weekend IM) just called. She will be available when we visit today, so we'll talk more then. She said so far today the sodium is behaving, but the potassium is stubbornly staying low, so they have begun a supplement and will probably be sending that home with him.

I just packed up a few more cans of food to take. I'm hoping to get a guesstimate on when he might come home. The house is very empty. :(

Yes, I can't imagine a home without a cat. As Samuel Clemens wrote:
“A home without a cat — and a well-fed, well-petted and properly revered cat — may be a perfect home, perhaps, but how can it prove title?”

Here's hoping you get a good report for Harve's homecoming.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Harvey's are tough, stubborn and don't give up without a fight!
I know this because my last name is Harvey and I have never met a Harvey who was not a fighter.
He is going to make it and be okay.
I know when Willow was at the vet last time it stressed her out so much, once he is back at home with his family he should get better.
We are all here for you.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I hope he perks up when he sees you. I have used NOW potassium gluconate rather than tumblr k which vets give that isn't any different. Ask about it. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Your vets are certainly amazing people!
You must be exhausted with all the worry, but it sounds like Harvey is improving!
Sending a plane load of stay down sodium vines and go up potassium vines to Harvey and lots of :bighug::bighug::bighug: to you Tricia and DH.

Just got home. We got to spend almost an hour with Harvey. :) He looks much better than he did Friday night. He's more alert, head up and looking around. He walked a bit and seemed stronger, but back legs still wobbly. Of course, he hasn't been moving around much for the past 5 days. I got him to eat about half a can of Fancy Feast. Dr. Ragan came in and said he'd eaten a good amount of Purina ProPlan earlier today (15% carbs:eek:). I told him not to get used to that! They are still giving him R.

His potassium was normal at the last test (yay!). She said they need to wean him off the supplements in his IV and see if he can keep his sodium and potassium at normal levels for a couple of days before they will let him go home. If they are still good tomorrow morning, the weaning will begin. Paws crossed!!

Thank you all so much for the prayers, vines and hugs. They are helping me, and Harvey, a lot! :bighug:

YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure you're so relieved that he's looking so much better too!!

Now come on Harvey.....stabilize soon buddy so you can go HOME!!

Great news!!! I hope he can come home soon.

Low potassium can cause leg wobbliness. I'm glad it is back up to normal.

Prayers and vines; I hope your sweet baby will be home soon.

Cheering you on, Harvey. Even a cartwheel thrown into the routine. C'mon, Harvey....not too far now to feeling all better.

Still lots of vines and hugs and all the light we've got.

Marilyn and Polly

I'm happy to hear that you got to spend more time with Harvey and his levels are good! I'm impatient for him to be home with his beans...but I'm glad they are being cautious to make sure he maintains first. Are you tierd of vines? I'm sending some more, along with prayers. And hugs, and smooches/scritches for Harvey. You get better now, Harvey. Your beans are missing you:( :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Such a great update!! Lots of healing energy time with him sounds like tonite. I'm so glad and happy for you that was as a good visit..
oodles and boodles of healing vines and hugs making their way up the state to you and Harvey!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, everyone. We are very encouraged, but our fingers are crossed and we are knocking on wood.

He definitely looks more alert! :)

I forgot to mention that Harvey bit Superstudent Steven today! It seems Steve tried to pill Harvey without using a pill popper. Steve assured me it was his own fault, but I will no doubt be hearing from Rabies Control. Harvey's last Rabies vaccine was in 2014. I don't think Steve is in any danger, since Harvey hasn't been anywhere but home, the vet's and Dawns in that time. Still, I felt bad.

Oh Harvey, you naughty boy biting poor Steven. I'm very glad to hear that Harvey is feeling, and looking, better and sending continued mega vines that he can can home soon. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: to you Tricia and your DH.

He is looking more alert and brighter, and I bet he really appreciated you coming to visit him.
I hope the weaning process goes exceptionally well, and he is released from the hospital soon.
You guys are always in my thoughts and prayers. Sending super healing vines to Harvey today.

Hey Tricia, so glad that Harvey's sodium and potassium levels are holding! Here's too the weaning process being successful and that Harvey will be home ASAP. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yikes about the bite on student Stephen. Maybe he will forget to report it

Glad you are getting better and better news - thinking of you today. It is so hard to be away from our kitties.............
Positive thoughts that all levels will hold so he can be home and back in your arms again....that is where true healing takes place!
Many hugs to you and Harvey...........

Good boy Harvey for taking a little bite;) That tells me he's feeling a little better and hopefully can come home real soon. Keeping mega vines and prayers coming your way.
