Good news to report from Murphy - after 6 weeks of horrible relapsing pancreatitis/IBD flare, he has been much better for the past 10 days or so (anti jinx) It started the morning I gave him his first budesonide and poo pills from Animalbiome - since then, his stools have been normal and he has been eating (for the most part) I will say that the budesonide has had an impact on his sugar levels - he is now on 2 units and he has never been on 2 units for the over 2 years he has been diabetic. I will probably end up increasing to 2.25

But I'll take the clinical improvement!!:):cat:

I'll be visiting condos today - anxious to catch up

Great report Carol, so glad Murphy is feeling good. It must make you feel a bit of relief. At least you know why he needs a bit more insulin and if he's feeling better that's most important. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Wonderful report! Yes, the one "good" thing about FD (and monitoring closely like you do) is that you can easily adjust insulin needs around other health issues. Anti-jinxes coming your way!

Better to add more insulin than have a sick Murphy! Over time you might find you need to adjust the insulin back down;)
So thankful to hear Murphy is doing so much better:bighug:

It may not be the bupe but the pain. Gizmo is just getting over a flare and I increased 2x's during it. He doesn't take bupe but Torbogisic (a different opiate). Try and put a tiny bit on your finger and taste it to see if it is sweet. If it is it can be compounded (or mixed) without sugar.

So, so happy Murphy is doing better. Yay! :cat:

Hi Lizzie - I meant the budesonide- the steroid for his IBD that is supposed to not be widely absorbed therefore not increase blood sugar so much
Sorry Gizmo has been having a pancreatitis flare - so happy he is getting over it - such a terrible thing for our kitties to deal with
Murphy appreciates the well wishes, everyone
