Had to be out as soon as I did AMPS routine. Had to have annual labs done and have the mechanic check something on car.

Now home having my caffeine and getting started. Olive popped a pickle last night. If she had a few I don't know as I finally went to bed. But guaranteed it was probably very short lived. Well because that's just Olive.

Going to catch up with y'all and see who is doing what.

She doesn't look good. She won't eat. Never has she refused food. Stalling to see if she comes around. I will give her some Gab when she eats.

Just tried cerenia pill. Now foaming and vomited. She isn't a kitty you can pull unless super tiny in her food

If she won't eat in an hour can I give her any insulin at all?

Did any of the meds stay down? Cerenia will make them foam and froth.

Do you give any supplements in her food? Reason I ask is because if any of them are in capsules you can reuse the empty capsule for the meds. I use empty B12 and Canna capsules to pill Gizmo. Slather the capsule in butter, as far back in the throat as possible (tilt her head back), then drizzle in a bit of water.
 
My goodness! Olive, whatchadoing now? Won't eat? The kids want you to come back to the beach and you need your strength for some surfing...so come on little girl...and eat your fuds...

Only one other med and that's tiny benazepril in her food that she won't eat. The cerenia did not stay down.

I tested ketones. In the ear that usually does not get poked it was 2.4. In the eat that is poked and bleeds well it was 0.3.

She is just laying out. Not in any meat loaf position. Had a good poop earlier today.
 
I am sorry no one got back to you. Continued prayers. I would test again for ketones. Remember the ketone strips take more (a lot more) blood than the BG strips.

If it were me I'd maybe give a BCS (1/2 dose) but only if you can syringe feed if needed. I went against the grain being more conservative when Doodles wouldn't eat. I'm not sure with the difference in the ketone meter reading. If she's never had them before then I'd lean toward the lower reading personally.

I did, will check again. She just ate some AD food so I shot full dose. I can work times back. It's going to be a long night.

Paula, I am so sorry, I wasn't online. Glad Karen gave you some guidance. The two ketone readings are so different. I would ketone test her again tomorrow AM since she isn't eating well. Sending appy vines :bighug:
 
Sorry I wasn't on earlier to help. As a general rule of thumb, cats not able to eat due to anesthesia pending, vet's will suggest 1/2 dose. Not all the insulin you give goes to combat the carbs in food, so you can usually give at least some insulin. Since Lev has such a late onset, later more for Neko than Olive, I would always shoot and had hours to encourage her to eat or to assist feed if needed. Sometimes it meant higher carb LC than normal. Higher numbers would make her feel even worse. And with a ketone possibility, it's good you did full dose.

I had to do Cerenia in capsules, too bitter otherwise, I have heard benazapril is too. The kind we get in Canada, Fortekor, is supposed to be a chewable. Didn't know a single respectable Canadian cat who would eat it. Dogs would of course. :rolleyes: I had to pill pocket it, until that stopped working.
 
I don't know if I filled out the ss correctly but I understand it. Still not eating. Actually I haven't seen her drink today. All day she was bright and alert so I don't know what happened.
 
Have you ever tried CBD oil for "Not Eating?" When I first started with Ravan's diabetes he would not eat & I was syringe feeding.
I read about CBD oil & tried it. If I give him 4 drops In baby food with a feeding syringe he will be eating in a few hours. It works every time.

I give it to my other 2 cats that go off their food sometimes & it always works. ( I think it gives them the Munchies) :)

It seems to help with nausea & vomiting also.

I hope Olive feels better :)
