Good morning all!
I increased Lou to 2.25u yesterday morning. With NDW, he didn't do anything during the day, but still managed to get into the garbage and eat pizza. Apparently that's now his kryptonite.:rolleyes: He takes after his momma that way, haha. With the contraband, he didn't do much of anything last night either. I'm hoping he can get out of those pinks today. It's just flummoxing that he's never had much of desire to "hunt" his food from the garbage in all the years I've had him. He didn't even do it after he was diagnosed with diabetes and he was starving. It's only started this year.... since he's been on the Basaglar. I don't really see how that could cause him to go dumpster diving, but it is weird.

Another oddity is he's thrown up the last 3 mornings in a row. He's thrown up before at random times, but this is the first continuous cycle. I'm not sure whether I should be worried or limit his food/water intake in the morning, or all of the above. It's generally only in the morning though. I feed him half a can of FF in the mornings with extra water. I wonder if he's just been more hungry and he's wolfing the food down too quickly. It's never really been an issue with him before, as he's usually a grazer. If he inhales all of his food instead of leaving some, it usually means he's bouncing. Something to think on. I think tomorrow morning I'll try to break up the food and see if that helps.... Unfortunately I don't have much time at all to wait before I have to go to work.

In other news, we finished cleaning the apartment yesterday!!! We got everything out and the checkout is today at 3pm. I'm kind of nervous about the checkout because it's not with my lazy landlord, it's with a rental guy who won't know that the place is much cleaner than it was when I moved in. Regardless, I'm just excited to be done with the whole thing. I may cry tears of joy when it's over. :p

I hope you all have a wonderful day and your kitties surf safely! Sending vines of love, healing, and comfort to all those kitties and beans in need. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Is he good at getting contraband or what!!!!!! Mez think momma gotta find a new system for the trash. I got 4 kitties and not one is interested in the trash. It sits out in the open too with no lid. I don't like trash can being in cabinet, I guess because it was my job as a kid to constantly clean the cabinet because the garbage always fell over, mom put bags in that were to small and people missed the can.

I hope Lou slides down today. Silly kitty eating pizza again. Sorry about the vomit. Does he get any food during the night cycle? Some cats throw up in morning if they have an empty stomach. Or is he throwing up after he eats?

Yay for being done cleaning the apartment.

Sigh on the pizza. I had an elegant little silver tabby persian who loved pizza too, non diabetic, but ruined her ladylike image. :p

I wouldn't withhold water from a diabetic kitty. You could try a small snack right at regular feed time, then the rest of the meal around 20 minutes later. That might slow the scarf and barf, if that's what it is. Or you can get bowls that make it harder to eat. Just search for slow feeding bowls on Amazon.

Woohoo, almost done with the old place!

Well he's coming down. PMPS is 189. I hope this means he might see some green tonight. We've had a crappy, flimsy old garbage with the swing lid in the house since we moved. We have a better, sturdier garbage can with the lid that will close automatically when you're done with it. Unfortunately, the insert has been at the apartment as a garbage can while we were cleaning. Now that everything is here, I'll switch them out and hopefully that helps. I hope it does because I also hate the under the sink/cabinet trash option. We've been trying to put the garbage out in the garage overnight and when we leave, but of course as soon as we forget, he's into it. The rascal. On another positive note, checkout has been completed, and we are FREE of that apartment! WAHOOO!!! He was really laid back about it, and only had questions about one thing, which I was able to explain. (Caleb refused to pay to have the carpet cleaned when it's obvious they need to replace it. It needed to be replaced before I moved in, and I've lived there 8.5 years.) Such a relief, I can't even fully express how fantastic I feel about that. :D:D:D

Congrats on finalizing the apartment - that's history now! Woo hooo!
Yep, I know what you mean about the dumpster diving...Luci is an opportunist - doesn't wait for me to put something in the trash...she usually catches me when I forget and leave stuff on the counter - lurking around every corner - waiting for me to forget that one thing/one time..she's watching :)

Well, he is coming done so that is good. Pizza! My one cat Josie was a pizza lover. She would jump up to the table and sit in a chair really sweetly and then she would start looking around and while she was doing that she was taking her paw into the box of pizza to move a piece towards her. She thought if she didn't see us while she was doing it, we didn't see her. Too funny.

Interesting about the Basaglar being the time when her food garbage dioving started. Wonder if @Chris & China experienced increase hunger with China?

What a hilarious and adorable visual! Gosh I love cats!

He does get food during the night, but it entirely depends on when Caleb goes to sleep. His normal food schedule is PS, +3, +6, +8 or+9. I know he usually gets a meal at +8 at night, but perhaps it's too long until the AMPS when he eats again. We bought autofeeders, but we haven't set them up yet, with everything going on. It's just weird how much hungrier he's been the last few days. I think he is eating his food too fast, as he throws up within 10 minutes or so after eating. I'll try to break it up his meal into 2 halves tomorrow morning and see if that helps. Otherwise, it makes me wonder if something else might be going on.

If you don't want to buy the slow-feeder bowls, try spreading his food out thinly on a flat plate....that will make him slow down to eat.

You can also put something inedible (like a golf ball) into a bowl that will make him "eat around it" to slow him down
