Hi all, Arya threw up twice overnight and had some loose stool. She's still eating and drinking and otherwise seems ok (if not a little clingy). Going to try to get a ketones test in soon and will be WFH to monitor, should i be concerned? I'm calling the vet as soon as their office is open too. I did give her wet food yesterday morning but she's been getting that for a few days now and has not thrown up (although yesterday was a new flavor) - could it be that? Thanks!

It might be the food -- or not. If it was an entirely new flavor that she's never eaten before, it may be the cause. If the fat content is high that may also contribute to an upset tummy.

Talking to your vet is a good idea. It's possible that there's a GI bug going around that is causing the upset. You may want to ask the vet about a prescription for Cerenia which can help with the nausea and vomiting. S. boulardii is a probiotic that can work magic with diarrhea. You may want to call around to see if any health food stores or Whole Foods in your area carries it. It's available on Amazon. (I've use ReNew brand and others here have used Florastar but I'd opt for whatever brand you can find.) Vets may also prescribe metronidazole if they think it's a GI bug.

It looks like her ketones are good although I'd try to get a test if she's not feeling well.

Spoke with my vet he said no need to put her on anything right now but just to try to control her sugar levels, he suggested going back up to the 4 units because her numbers were still too high. I feel that might be too high/too fast? I'm going to be able to get a +5 test in shortly. She has not thrown up again and seems ok/normal. I'll look into the probiotic too!

It's unfortunate there wasn't a test after +2 last night with such a big drop. However, I think you are OK to increase to 3.5 units.

Awesome on the neg ketones. :)

Likely continuing to bounce from however low she went last night. Bonus for you, early to bed.
