DUNKIN needing dosage advice 1.22

Great job getting a new post up. By convention, we put the cat’s name and date in the title too. There is an Edit Title button to the right of the first post.

Good luck with the curve today. Are you doing every 2 hours for 12 hours or every three hours for 18? Either is useful and serve different purposes. Ok, just looked at the SS, looks like every two hours. Good catch on that 52. If you are following SLGS for dosing that means a reduction, if following TR it means keep the dose.

To be honest, I dont know what method we fall under. Its been 4 years and we've had assistance from a great guy who is fresh out of ideas now with the swings that the BG is undergoing. I came to the board for further advice and input.

What are your goals for Dunkin at this point?

Picking one of the dosing methods will help us help you. Read the two associated Sticky Notes and see which might be a match for you. Ask questions. Reduction points are different between the two, as is how long you hold a dose and when you increase. TR requires an all low carb wet food or raw diet be fed and as it’s more aggressive (but safe), it has a minimum requirement of two tests per cycle.

Looks like we've been doing TR for 4 years. Hes on FF pate, freeze dried raw primal nuggets and some stella and chewy freeze dried raw.

I see many days with only two tests. With your schedule, is it possible to get at least four tests a day? If so, then you can follow TR.

Doing the best that I can. This has been 4 years of data. I guess we havent been on TR.

The goal is to get his BG numbers consistent in a reasonable range. He was previoiusly in stage 4 CKD, but has improved in the last 3 months to stage 3.

Improving the CKD is great!

If you aren’t following TR, then I would reduce his dose with that 52.

From the looks of the chart, have we been on TR? The numbers have been monitored and dosages altered accordingly. I just followed instructions.
Reduce dose even with the high numbers? Sorry, Im just getting more confused lol

No, you haven’t been on TR. it some other dosing method we don’t know about.

Yes, reduce. We determine dose based on how low the dose takes the cat. 50 is our take action number where we give high carbs to try to prevent a hypo. He was pretty close to that today. Those reds in there tell me Dunkin is probably been getting into some lower numbers on cycles where there has been no additional monitoring, which has caused bouncing.

Reduced to 0.5 units. BG seems to be coming down a little at AM/PM times. Hoping it continues to stabilize.
