Hi everyone, I’ve been comparing today’s +9.5 number of 422 to yesterday’s +9 of 227 and it has me worried. I know he’s just beginning the insulin again, but is it typical to have that much of a difference in numbers taken pretty much at the same time on 2 consecutive days?
That’s almost 200 points!!! He’s also much more lethargic than yesterday. It’s hard not to worry

And, do I need to hold the Ketostix under him when he’s urinating? That seems so impossible!!! I read somewhere that you can put it in the urine puddle. Is that true? He doesn’t cover his pee, so maybe I could do that?

Yes, you can just dab the stick in the puddle after he's done. I stand by while Sebastian pees and get in there right when he's done before he has a chance to cover it. Works just fine.

As far as the numbers, it's to be expected. He's been high for a bit so getting back down to lower numbers can trigger a bounce. Unfortunately I don't have a ton of experience with low doses or free remissions so can't really help beyond that.

Some people use a long handled spoon, or a bit of tin foil folded like a spoon.

Until the depot is built (5-7 days) and you are close to a fitting dose, it’s not unusual to see quite widely varying numbers. Scout has to get used to lower numbers again.
