last night

Felix gave me another lime-green preshot last night. Between Karo and probably coming up (or bouncing up) on his own, he came up quickly. I wonder if he was even lower earlier--he was unusually sleepy in the evening. I'd gotten a +6 and a +7 test, and figured he wasn't still falling, but I was wrong.

I guess I've thought of skinny/fat dosing as being particularly for low doses, maybe 1 unit and under. But does it look like his best dose right now is between 2.5u and 2.75u? Would I do the usual six cycles at 2.5u and then if he's not in green do a fat 2.5u as the increase? Or would I want to start that sooner so he doesn't lose momentum? Because he'll be getting a few shots early to make up for shooting an hour late last night, it seemed best to take the full reduction for now.

He broke that bounce pretty quickly!

I would give this dose at least six cycles, and then decide if fattening it is the way to go. I don't think it matters how large or small the dose is when it comes to fattening or skinnying - the cat needs what it needs, and if that's a dose in between, then it is.

Felix does love to bounce! I think a good strategy for Felix might be to try going three times under 50 (or once under 40) before reducing. That often works for cats that fail to hold reductions. It allows them to spend more time in green, and stop getting freaked out by it as much. You could use higher carb food early in the cycle, when you see him dropping fast, to try to slow tha drop and prevent the dives to lime green.

Looks like he made that point moot today. :D Though it's probably the 2.75 unit depot talking, it's still a good sign.

Yes, Felix is an exceptionally earnest little kittyman, and he brings that to his bouncing and his bounce-breaking.

I would like to stay at 2.5u for a bit; it's such a luxury to have a dose that's not between lines on the syringe!

Would you suggest continuing to give the 2.5u a whirl for six cycles, or going back to 2.75u right away to earn that reduction? But maybe that's moot, too, if he's going to work the 2.5u this time around.

He's so fussy about canned food that the way to get higher carb in him is to use a bit of Karo--I can do that, using a smaller amount than I use for his under-5os, but I won't know if I'm making it high carb or medium carb. Will have to experiment to find the least amount that works.

Felix's jump from +8 to +9 was probably all food-influenced--I was practicing getting small drip-drops from the Karo bottle---but PMPS is obviously a real bounce. I think I'll get some honey for him and see how that works.
