I feel your pain, Buddy is also in the hospital with Peritonitis secondary to Pancreatitis, he has been in the hospital since Wednesday. On Wednesday the vet had a board certified Radiology Tech do an US Of Buddy's abdomen since she could not tell from the X-ray's what was going on. The US was sent to a doctor who was to get back with them in 24 hrs. The vet felt as though he would probably need surgery. The US results came back today, with his problem. The US doctor said that is was the worst case of pancreatitis they had ever seen. Buddy had chronic pancreatitis for years and a lot of vet's want to try amalase (spelling) & lipase on a cat with pancreatitis and say it does not show anything. I am on my way to see Buddy and happened to run across this. Good luck, sounds like things are going better.
Teresa I pray that Buddy will also pull through this. Such a handsome boy. Teresa please keep us informed about Buddy
So sorry you're dealing with a similar situation. I send healing vines to buddy and hope he is healing.
@Teresa & Buddy , thinking of you with love. Continuing to hold Tucker and his family in my heart with love and hope as well. With love, Nikki

AHHH!!! Lots of Love,Light and Healing for you Buddy Archangel Raphael and Archangel Ariel please also help and heal Buddy!
I'm so so sorry to read this. I actually got dizzy and anxious and upset and well, all of the emotions you are going through just flooded past me and I don't know what to do with them... 'Sorry' seems like such a lame and inadequate thing to say. Please know I'm sharing your pain and sending back all of the strength and love and healing vibes you've shared for Tucker. You're not alone.
Thank you, everyone for the healing vines and the very best of good wishes. I saw Buddy today, but only for a few minutes. The doctors were very busy and I did not want to tie up a room while the waiting room was full and all of the exams rooms occupied. Buddy did not feel warm to the touch like he has been, he has not ate anything yet and he has IV's going. This is not a 24 hr hospital and I think the closest would be around 1 1/2 hrs, so I do not know how this will be handled if he does not come home tomorrow. But I don't want him to come home if I can't handle him. I just want him better and Tucker too.
Hey Teresa, when you say it's not a 24 hr hospital, do you mean no one will be there with him overnight? How long hasn't he eaten.
I force feed him for 2 1/2 days before he was put in the hospital, since he has been in the hospital he has been getting everything through an IV. As far as I know he will be there overnight by his self, there are no 24 hour hospitals in the area where I live.
Ok got it, you must be worried about him being alone overnight. What exactly is wrong with him , pancreatitis? The poor baby. Where do you live. Once one of my cats had to stay overnight, and no one would be thete, so I asked my vet if I could sleep there with him, of course she said no. You just worry about them so much. I hope Buddy starts to improve soon, he's so cute
Hi Theresa and Buddy I am so sorry Buddy is ill as well. It’s horrible when our fur babies are sick. Sending many get better vines. Would you like to start a thread about Buddy? Then we can follow his progress more easily than it getting mixed up in this thread. And I’m sure there will be many who will want to send love and best wishes.
@Teresa & Buddy I'm sorry to hear about your situation & am sending thoughts & prayers your way! I've been in a similar situation with my T who also has pancreatitis (chronic with episodes requiring hospitalization)...there were 24 hr specialty vet clinics, but I wanted my T at the University hospital where he would get the best care. It was 2.5 hours away. I also had a CKD cat years ago & I had to do the same thing when she became very ill. I could not stay the entire time for the hospitalizations & would have to leave for a several days. The teams were amazing & I knew my cats were getting a TON of attention (possibly more) when I wasn't able to be there. They called me at least 4-5/day when I wasn't there. So, if you are uncomfortable taking him home & it is possible to take him somewhere else until he is more stable, don't let the distance stop you. What seems impossible or overwhelming often works out. Its just so hard to figure out what to do when you are in the middle of the emotional storm of these acute episodes . Follow your gut/instinct.
You are wonderful, he is coming home. I have a 20 year old car and at this time the check engine light is on. I am leary about getting too far away from home, this vet is 14 miles away and I am scared we won't make it there and back.
Sending prayers. I'm SO happy to hear he is coming home & that your vet is close if you need any help. I'm sorry to hear about the check engine light...not right...you've got enough on your plate!! Hopefully being home in his surroundings with you will be what he needs at this point to continue his progress!! I will continue to send thoughts & prayers to you both. I know its such a stressful recovery but you've got this !!
Do let us know when you've made safely back. Maybe over on the Health forum in your "Buddy might be coming home thread." I hear you on the 20-year-old car. I just recently moved on from a car that old. Always such a worry about what's going to be the next thing to break.
YES!!!!! Wonderful You may just have a lose gas cap, that causes the Check Engine light to come on Lots of Love,Light and Healing from Amethyst, and Pamela
Thank you, Sorry is not lame or inadequate. I am so glad Tucker is home and eating. That makes it so much easier for a Mama bean. I will try to keep up and see how Tucker is. Things are better done together.
I have just been reading your thread over on main health. You have a lot going on in your life right now. That must be hard. I am glad Buddy is home with you. I hope he will start eating for you soon. You may have to force feed him. I'm a bit confused as to what insulin you are using. The thread over on the main health mentions vetsulin but your signature says Lantus and from what I can see the SS is not up to date. Are you able to update the SS please when you have a moment.? Sending lots of vines and prayers to Buddy. Please keep us updated.
Buddy's SS will not save the info I enter, Marje & Gracie feels it is my computer, but when I have had it checked no problem was found. Buddy uses Lantus, they gave Vetsulin at the vet. I would have force feed him yesterday but they told me not to, but if he does not eat in the morning, I will force feed him. I have gave him an appetite stimulant. Thank you, for your good wishes.
Keeping Buddy and you in my thoughts. Hoping things are going better and Buddy is happy to be home. Sending healing vines to you both. Extra little scritch to Buddy.
Thank you, Buddy and I appreciate all the good thoughts and prayers. Last night when I tried to give Buddy insulin I was trying to stay away from his stomach area, I ended up giving him a fur shot. Buddy had only had 1 shot of insulin since last Wednesday morning, if a cat ever needed his insulin Buddy did. The only other shot he had was 3 U of Vetsulin yesterday morning. Yesterday when he came home I gave him an appetite stimulant because he had not been eating at the vet's and thy had told me not to force feed him, all he had been eating was high carb low fat dry food that the vet wanted him to eat at home (he ate nothing at the vets) Last night his BG got into the 400's, I got up every 2 hrs to check on him and give meds. This morning I got up at 5 a.m. to give him an appetite stimulant hoping when I got up he wood eat, no such luck. I force feed him 3t of the wet food this morning, what they want him to eat. I forced feed him because he need his insulin and yesterday he had trace amounts of ketones. After I feed him he would not eat any dry food but he was drinking water, he also seemed uncomfortable because he kept moving around. I gave him his pain meds after he ate and after a while he settled down and went to sleep. I am so worried about him, afraid I hurt him by force feeding him and afraid he will need to go back to the hospital. I just don't know what to do. Buddy had had pancreatitis many times in the past, but not like this time.
Oh Buddy, he needs to eat though. And you take such good care of him, you're not hurting him. Pain meds help him for sure. Sending you strength in these difficult times and good vibes from Oregon. And tons of caresses to Buddy.
I already have both and I bought some bupe before I left. When I left I did not see the vet only the tech. Buddy has had pancreatitis lots of times, but last year I noticed it is getting worse and lasting longer.
So sorry to hear of Buddy having such a rough time...sending you healing vines and lots of health energies. Please feel better Buddy...you have lots of beans and kittiehs pulling for you!
I hope Buddy feels better today, and that his appetite picks up. Thinking of you both with love, Nikki
Thank you, to all of you. Buddy is very painful today and I have given him pain meds already today. I gave him an appetite stimulant at 5:30 a.m., but he is only taking a few small bites of dry food at a time, which is concerning and makes it difficult to dose his insulin. Hs BG has been running really high, I would liked to up his insulin but I am afraid to because of the way he is eating. Poor Buddy has suffered so much in his life but he is still a sweetheart.
I am sorry to hear Buddy is going through a rough spot. Once you can get your spreadsheet to save with at least your last week worth of numbers, we might be able to help you determine if it is safe to do so. Kitties off their food can get at least half a dose. Cats undergoing anesthesia, who cannot eat, generally get a half dose. I found with Neko, when she wasn't feeling well, her numbers were even higher and it was safe to give insulin. I could always syringe feed higher carb if needed, but seldom did.
I am so sorry Buddy is in pain. It is very hard when they won't eat. Has the vet suggested a feeding tube? Sending many appy vines
I cannot get my SS to save, sometimes it will save some of the numbers, then sometimes only a few, but never all I enter. Marje & Grace said she could not fix it, that it is my computer. I don't know what is going on with it.
