No one much home until after noon today. Her +3 shows a reduction in bgs, and she'll drop further before anyone comes back. So little girl is eating her lc food with gusto now. I have no worries.
Mala has been showing the same pattern for 8 cycles now. She tends to be in the mid-range blues at PS values, drops into the greens at some point mid-cycle, then back to the blues.
I want to be aggressive and push her closer to remission. I feel she's static here, but don't know what to do with her current dosage.
Any chance you could convince Her Highness that a slightly higher carb food is tasty? That way you might be able to up her dose a tad to flatten her out.
Hmmm. Interesting question. Mala also has to eat food that is low in phosphates, which limits us, and I just invested in a HUGE amount of expensive food that hits the sweet spot for both diseases.
Mala will NOT eat anything with gravy. She wants pate, which tends to be lower in carbs. Finding a food that is okay for both CKD and diabetes, well, that's a challenge.
Tell me about it, try throwing good for heart (low salt) and different proteins (possible IBD) into the mix. I am talking about maybe 8-9% carbs, not necessarily high carb food. Worst case, you can add phosphorus binder to food. But I searched Dr. Lisa’s sortable food list and found a few.
Mala's current preferred food is Weruva chicken frick-a-zee. It's under 180 in phosphates, and shows as 2% carbohydrates. I know that's low, so she also gets some Nature's Recipe grain free chicken and chicken liver in broth, which is also low in phosphates but a 6% carb.
She demands the Weruva, but will eat enough of the NR to fill in her liquid needs and get a little more carbs in her. She's currently eating around 6 ounces per day of food dispersed in multiple mini-meals.
Her highness demands individual attention and frequent feedings.

There are some, yes. I just laid in a 1.5 month supply of the Weruva, though, and I think Chewy.com is annoyed with me. I would hate to tell them I'm returning 2 flats for something else - again - because picky kitty won't eat it.
There's another Weruva line that's in broth she MIGHT eat. It's only very slightly higher in carbs, so I don't know that this will make much difference. It's in the range of variance.
There is one place that has some variety of canned cat food. If I ever have time, I can make a run out there.
This week, I'm working 8-10 hour periods, and my hours end late in the evening. Getting out to this place is an adventure, and takes time and planning. But it's not entirely impossible. Peking Duken might work, in the Weruva line...
