TYLER'S JOURNEY #6

I don't think I'd try the 0.75u on that PMPS especially on a night cycle....he might drop a bit lower than you want leading to a PJ party. I'd stick to the 0.5u on the line or at most a fat 0.5u if you want to push it a bit.

Diane, I've been meaning to tell you that you don't need to summarize here if you keep the SS updated and you've been filling all the readings in as you take them. You're making work for yourself at this point. I remember asking you to do this before the SS but now it's not necessary. :) Go put your feet up!

Ok I get a little bit out of hand lol, Is it ok if I just post for example , what do you think about the units to shoot @MrWorfMen's Mom

It's Ok to say AMPS is and what dose etc but you don't need to keep going back to past post #xx to update it with a day's worth of data. That was just a way to keep a summary track of readings for anyone helping before the SS was done. :)

Gonna cut grass today even though it's supposed to be hotter than Hades out with the humidity because tomorrow is suppose to rain and Thursday is suppose to be even hotter. Saturday they're predicting high temps with humidex of 111. YIKES! A hibernation day me thinks! That's too hot even for me!

Oh wow, well make sure you don't over due it, talk later

Got the grass done early but man was it hot. Between all the rain this spring and now the heat, the uninvited plants out there are flourishing and my pond looks like I overplanted the water lilies and grass. Very few flowers in the pond this year because of all the foliage. Really going to have to get the pond drained and cleaned out because I think all the accumulated sludge in it is fertilizing the greenery!

Picked up litter yesterday and was going to have the young man who helps me with the gardening, bring the litter into the house. As we drove home from the pet store the skies opened up and gave us a mini monsoon with lots of ponding on the roads. I ended up leaving the litter in the car and will have to haul it in today or tomorrow when it's drier outside.

Noticed there's a whole new batch of weeds trying to take over my catnip flowerbed. Got to start harvesting and drying the catnip soon but the temp just keeps rising and they are now predicting a heat index (humidex here) of 115 for Saturday. I'm going to get my errands all done today and tomorrow and then go into hibernation for the weekend. That kind of heat is just too much even for heat lovin' me!

You're getting this seriously hot weather too so hope you are staying cool too:)!

wish I could send you a box or a bottle of this cool wet cloudy breezy misty-rain weather, to give you a break

no I don't want anything in return !! dealt with 90* plus 95% humidity in Oklahoma, also survived 117 in fairly dry Sacramento working in nonA/C quonset hut on a heavily asphalted military base while pregnant

I never knew you could grow catnip, yes we are getting these temperatures also. Saturday and Sunday are going to be brutal. I agree with you any errands that have to be done, get done before Saturday. I'll be off to the grocery store today. I will chat with you later ok @MrWorfMen's Mom

if you grow catnip, you may have to cover it with screen wire, lest every cat within smelling range comes and eats it down to the roots

Don't have any ferals I know of around here and haven't seen the couple of roaming owned cats that used to visit our yard, around for ages. The sun is wreaking havoc on a couple of big plants (I'm terrible about watering anything!) but those more shaded are doing well. Catnip tends to spread on it's own. I even had some that germinated into a flower pot I never got planted. When the catnip took hold in the pot I decided to just leave it. Lots to dry and hand out to my kitty loving friends!

No the litter is still in the car. I was getting ready to retrieve it this afternoon but the sky was darkening so I decided not to chance it. Good thing I procrastinated. We had another monsoon like downpour. 12 cars apparently had to be hoisted out of flooded areas on one of the highways not far from me. The ponding on the road was unreal! I was having flashbacks to the major downpour we had in July '13 when I had taken my middle fur child to a specialty hospital for dental surgery in the AM and fretted all the way home that night because ALL the north south routes towards home were cut off due to flooding. Nothing like driving into underpasses and thinking if this floods suddenly, what do I do to keep kitty and me safe. My side lawn was flooded up to about 2 feet from the house. Nothing quite so dramatic for me today but apparently others weren't so lucky. More expected tomorrow. :nailbiting:
I don't think Mother Nature likes any of us very much right now!

Wow you really had some storms, We get a lot of flooding here also. Good thing Tyler ate before the thunder started up again, or else he would have been under the bed, and would have never eaten

Well you've shot 0.5u on the line a few times on a similar pre-shot: once on a day cycle and he went down to 87 which is just about as low as you want to push him and twice on night cycles but he didn't make it to green. So, I definitely wouldn't give him the 0.75u dose. I'd choose 0.5u and decide whether you want to potentially be steering him more if you give him the fat 0.5u and he starts dropping him more than you want. If not then I'd stick to the 0.5 on the line.

Thanks Linda , I think I'll stay with 0.5 u n the line, Will talk to you later:cat:

Ok you beat me to the draw! :D Things are fine here. On my way out to retrieve my kitty litter now, It was too darn hot earlier so I procrastinated again. LOL! You staying cool I hope!

Glad everything is ok, the Kitty's must be saying, come on mommy, don't be a scaredy cat lol, go and get our litter, its not that hot out lol. Yes we are keeping cool, what I dread is Saturday and Sunday they are supposed to be the worst.

Sounds good. He may not have given you a green lately but his pre-shots seem to be coming down a bit the last few cycles. See what he does today and then if he needs a little bigger push, you can try a slightly higher dose at the lower pre-shot tomorrow. This is all a bit of trial and error when they get this close to normal BG during the cycle.

Yes I've noticed his pre shots have been coming down a bit also, which I'm glad? I'll talk to you later my friend

@MrWorfMen's Mom hey Linda you know how I have been feeding Tyler @+1 to slow down the drop, which looks like it has been working. Well I had to run out unexpectedly and forgot to feed him @+1 so I tested @+2 and it was 112. I guess this time it didn't drop too quickly or that much, do you find that strange

I learned a long time ago not to be surprised by anything these furry wonders do. BG will do different things each and every day and so while feeding at +1 may have appeared to make a difference, maybe that wasn't the case and something else was happening or maybe today is just a different day. Good to observe these things but I never hang my hat on anything being a permanent situation in this dance. Our kitties tend to like to change the steps to the dance every so often just to keep us on our toes.:cat:

Do you think for tonight and tomorrow morning just to see what happens without feeding @+1

Sure. You can experiment and see if something else works better. There are an infinite number of different feeding schedules and the only steadfast ones are making sure there is food on board when shooting, not feeding 2 hours before pre-shot tests and usually but not always, keeping most if not all of the food intake during a cycle in the first half rather than the last half. ECID!

Ok I'll give it a try and see what happens, I was hungry so I went outside to fry up some eggs on the sidewalk lol. I can't take this heat

LOL! Hope you enjoy your eggs! Same weather issues here!
I was going to run out to pick up a couple of things I forgot the other day but the sky is darkening up something awful and they are predicting severe thunderstorms. It's also heat index of 106 already and expected to get to 109. I'm staying indoors. The heat I can probably take but hailstones/lightning I don't want to play with.

Oh my God, I think your heat index is worse than here. Last night I had a dream about Tyler lol My friends asked me to go out and I said no I can't , my cats BG is down to 37. I have to stay and feed and monitor him. I even have to dream about this lol @MrWorfMen's Mom

Look at him now, the big lug

OMG! Tyler! A little decorum please! :woot:
That said, what an adorable face! I love it. Just want to rub that belly! :D
Darn near wet my drawers with that pic! Brought back fond memories. Reminds me of a cat who liked hanging around on our patio in Barbados. He'd go in the corner and let the wall support him with his belly hanging out and his back legs spread in much the same way. You gotta wonder how it can be comfortable sitting on a tail!
As for your dream, I hope it never comes true!

Was just trying to get Menace to come upstairs with me so she'd leave her little brother's food bowl alone. She was totally ignoring me until I hollered "Gonna let Mommy test you?" and the little nutbar comes running upstairs and right to me in the kitchen where I was preparing a snack for her. I knew she'd go into her testing dance with that line in the middle of the kitchen when I have her testing stuff in my hand but never thought to use it to get her to come from anywhere in the house at any time! :woot: BONUS!

Didn't get quite as hot as they predicted. Had a shower but no thunderstorm yet and that kept the temp from going higher. Its actually cooled off a bit now (107 heat index, 86 actual). But we are still under a severe thunderstorm watch and tomorrow is now supposed to be even hotter than today with a prediction of heat index of 117! Having deja vu of Las Vegas in May! o_O

@MrWorfMen's Mom lol that's so funny , Menace is a smart kitty for sure. Is Menace the only one on Insulin , I forgot , or is she in remission. Sometimes when Perry is eating his K/D food Tyler just sits next to him and then just pushes his way in , poor Perry lol. Perry is a feisty one, he's always beating Tyler up. Then they both go at it. I am constantly chasing Perry away, and then a second later there he is staring Tyler down again.

It's still brutal here, went outside to empty garbage, my pants were sticking to me .
Oh just can't wait until tomorrow lol

Tested Tyler
FRIDAY 7-19-19
PMPS - 163 Think I can go with the skinny 0.75 , I can definitely monitor him most of the night. I had looked at other pre shots that were very similar.
Going to shoot at 9:30 pm. What do you think
Didn't shoot yet

You got this. I agree.

I stuck my head out and it's like walking into soup! Still no thunderstorms. I like thunderstorms and was looking forward to a good rousing light show. If it happens it will probably be after I hit the sack.

Stay cool!:D

Ok thanks, you didn't tell me if Menace is on Insulin
I like them too and love the sound of rain
