Advice on start of kidney issues

Hello....so my baby apparently has the start of kidney issues. She's a smidge over the normal range on Creatinine. Is low phosphorous food the only thing to do at this point? Obviously she's diabetic, and also has early stages of Pancreatitis. I've found the list on a thread in here for low carb/low phosphorous food...just making sure that's the only thing to do right now. My vet mentioned a phosphorous binder down the road if that becomes necessary. She wanted me to try some low phosphorous food and redo bloodwork in a month (which is difficult because my cat is awful at vet and has to be sedated).
Her kidney results are below:

Creatinine 2.5 Normal range- 0.8 - 2.4 mg/dL H

BUN 35 Normal range- 16 - 36 mg/dL

BUN: Creatinine
Ratio: 14

Phosphorus 5.1 Normal range- 3.1 - 7.5 mg/dL

Do you have a spreadsheet? Keeping the BGs as near to normal as possible will help stop any deterioration of the kidneys.

Those lab results are only just above normal in a couple of cases. Did the vet do an SDMA test? That shows any kidney deterioration earlier than another tests? Ask him if he can add that test to the others. They may still have the blood.

Weruva brand a range of low phosphorus foods. Google the brand.
There are also many in this FOOD CHART. Look for foods that are 250 mg Phosphorus/ 100 kcals or less.

I’ll ask @Suzanne & Darcy to have a look and see if she has anything to add.

It was almost 2 weeks ago that we went to the vet, so I doubt they still have the blood :) Vet didn't mention anything about an SDMA test. She had protein in her urine, but the vet seemed unsure if that was from the diabetes or the kidneys. She is also 'concentrating' really well.
I do not have a spreadsheet, but her BG has been doing pretty well.

Do you have a full set of labs you can post? The SDMA value is determined by looking at the kidney vastest and urinalysis and you have all of that. Did your cat have pancreatitis when the tests were run? The fact that the urine is well concentrated and the Bun normal means it’s very early if she has ckd. My vet always runs the test a month later. I have two cats that have had slightly elevated creatinine off and on since a couple years old but all else normal. The last labs last month all was normal. So don’t jump to any conclusion. Getting the bg under control is important to protect the kidneys as Bron said.

As a side note, pancreatitis is not staged. It is either acute or chronic and sometimes cats get both. My diabetic cat had chronic pancreatitis. Is your cat showing symptoms of it now or has she ever or are you going by the labs? The tests are not 100% accurate. Was an SpecfPL test sent out?

Hmm, i have all the labs, but it's not letting me upload for some reason...I can try it tonight from my home laptop. She went to the vet last Sept because she was throwing up a lot one morning and not eating much- I was told it was a pancreatitis flare up. Her Lipase and Amylase is normal, but SNAP shows 'abnormal' (last Sept and a couple weeks ago)....so vet says early stages of pancreatitis. When I took her a couple of weeks ago, she had been having a few diarrhea type poops, acting a bit blah/lethargic off and on, and also had conjunctivitis in her eye. I will try to post her labs when I get home. Thanks for helping!

You can’t upload. That’s been broken for a long time. You will need to copy and paste.

The creatinine is just one point above range. My cats at 7 have had that but last test 2.1 for both. The USG shows urine is well concentrated. I don’t think your cat has CKD and would treat the fd with LC preferably wet food. That will protect the kidneys. You don’t start phosphorus binder unless the phosphorus is high which it is not. That’s my take on this.

Ok! Thanks so much for the input. And yeah, I've had her on low carb wet food since she was first diagnosed. :)
