Happy Sunday
Tomorrow is Fistuk's one year anniversary to diabetes diagnosis (tomorrow I'll be working all day and won't be able to post). I know some folks here say happy anniversary but I'm not sure I can say that wholeheartedly.
Fistuk is the sweetest boy. I'm happy he is stable, that he is happy and that we're able to keep him comfortable and supported.
The past year was a rollercoaster. The two ketone episodes that rushed us to the hospital are still a trauma I'm processing. I was so fearful for Fistuk's life. He was so so poorly. This community saved us, saved Fistuk. You were here for me when I was so desperate, when I felt so alone and had hardly any support from the vets.
I was under informed, ill informed and was treated like an idiot. This community of so many people who care deeply, gave me a way back to sovereignty over our life and Fistuk's health.
Thank you @Bandit's Mom @Bron and Sheba (GA) @Gill & George @Angela & Cleo @tiffmaxee @Wendy&Neko @Marje and Gracie @Sienne and Gabby (GA) @Mikanmama @Staci & Ivy @cecile & bella @Jack & Mopem'sMom @Diane Tyler's Mom @Karen and Chispa @Nestel @Jason - Kona's Dad and many more who've been a regular support over the past year.
I couldn't have done it without you

I've never had such a deep connection with a cat. He's like a piece of my soul in four legs, wrapped in white fur. Diabetes changed him and changed our relationship and our house dynamics. I learnt about things I never knew existed, such a s cat diabetes. I also learnt about the power of community.
We sometimes get a glimpse of the old doolaly boy but the sweetness and the love emanating from his eyes has never dimmed. We are blessed that Fistuk is a full participant in his healing process- he allows us to test him as much as we need (or as much as mummy's poking addiction goes
), he tells us clearly which cat sitter he wants and which he doesn't, he takes all the vitamins we give him and lets us know when he goes low so we can keep him safe.
At first I was aiming to get him to remission. I'm still not giving up hope as this will take a lot of the load off. But with the mark of a year my goal is changing. The main goal will be to keep him happy and safe and for our family to have more life and more night sleep.

It's nearly a week since we're back from the holiday. I see that Fistuk's doing quite well with the holiday dose, 2U. But he still has a +3 bump that past numbers tell me he can do better.
The past two days been extra hot here and Fistuk was flat like a pita. I imagine this influenced his numbers. I started adding extra water to his food. Nadirs haven't been impressive in the past three days.
Any suggestion about the dose would be welcome.
Wishing you a lovely Sunday and may all the kitties be safe and happy
In the pic: Fistuk and me in our morning routine. I sit him on my lap and sign to him and test him. He loves it so much. We have a special towel that we place only for morning and evening ritual and he knows it's for him. He comes to the kitchen for shot times, sits down and waits for me to sit him on my lap and start the insulin ceremony
Happy Sunday
