2/10 | Jude: AMPS 141; +2.5 116; +4 80; +5 73; +6.5 79; PMPS 79; +1 72; +2 64; +3 62; +4 71; +5 66

Hi Mary, congratulations on the reduction. Good luck with the new dose. I am glad Jude is doing so well and with less insulin!
Have a safe day! :bighug::bighug:

Thanks, @Mermelada & Andrea, @Tim & Pookey, @Staci & Ivy, and @Karolina KJ & Nestle!

I'm hoping Jude's bg will stay a little higher on this new dose, and keep him out of the limes, at least for the present and until he needs another reduction (which I hope happens). This disease! Fascinating and frustrating! I find it fascinating that for months, since he came out of remission, he was bouncing quite a bit, but then it's like something happened in his body (healing of the pancreas?), and around the first of January, he began responding to the insulin in a different, more consistent way. Everyone kept saying that cats that come out of remission bounce around a lot, and that they will eventually become used to the lower bg, and I guess he is proof of that. I also think switching to TR, and being able to hold a higher dose longer, helped to stop the bouncing. But what that all meant was that for a good while I was worried he was too high and unregulated and bouncing all over the place, and now I'm constantly worried that he's going to be too low.:arghh: I don't know what I'd do without the support of this group.

You're doing a great job keeping Jude safe, one day at a time :bighug::bighug:

I'm anticipating another late night of testing/monitoring. At least he's 16 points higher than he was this time last night. I'm hoping for a nice, flat surf (please and thank you).
Careful what we wish for right. :D Way to keep Jude safe and so steady. Assuming you have to guide those kinds of numbers the whole time with food?

You're still seeing the effects of the higher depot so you might have to do what you did last night which is to carb him up from early on in the cycle. The depot will take 4-6 cycles to adjust after ab reduction.

I'm carbing now; he's dropped tonight at +1 instead of going up.

Do you know the % carbs in them? 15-16% or 20%+?
The beef has 20%. The chicken hearts and liver has 15%. He turned his nose up at the beef, but he ate a little of the chicken, but now he won't eat anything. I've offered him about seven different food options. As I said earlier, his appetite has been off lately since he's been in the lower numbers. He is normally a pretty hearty eater, but not tonight. And he didn't eat much earlier either.

Even if he eats just the gravy, that's fine. If he will eat his usual LC, you could add a little honey/syrup to it to boost the carb%.
How much are you feeding him after each test?

He just ate a good amount--probably a tsp or two--of the chicken (15%). I'll add honey if I need to at +4.

He eats his big meal after each test--but he wasn't hungry tonight, so he only ate a couple of bites. At the same time as I give him his evening meal, right after I test him I give him two freeze dried chicken hearts + a couple of Orijen no carb treats just to make sure he has something in his tummy in case he's not hungry enough to eat his regular food. I don't do that in the a.m., because he normally eats really well.

You might want to reduce the amount you feed after the shot and after each test in cycles like tonight where you need him to eat for half the cycle (or at least till +4) so that he doesn't get too full to eat early in the cycle :-)

If he is staying flat with what you are feeding him, you don't need to add honey. That's a lot of carbs for later in the cycle.

Thank you again, Bhooma, for your help. I hope he stops doing this. Period. Full stop. Worrisome nights like these shave time off my life o_O

What did you feed at +5?

Happy to help! :-)

I have to warn you that if he has decided to race down the dosing ladder, you are in for a bit of a ride till he gets to the dose he decides he wants to be on!
