You're doing a great job keeping Jude safe, one day at a timeThanks, @Mermelada & Andrea, @Tim & Pookey, @Staci & Ivy, and @Karolina KJ & Nestle!
I'm hoping Jude's bg will stay a little higher on this new dose, and keep him out of the limes, at least for the present and until he needs another reduction (which I hope happens). This disease! Fascinating and frustrating! I find it fascinating that for months, since he came out of remission, he was bouncing quite a bit, but then it's like something happened in his body (healing of the pancreas?), and around the first of January, he began responding to the insulin in a different, more consistent way. Everyone kept saying that cats that come out of remission bounce around a lot, and that they will eventually become used to the lower bg, and I guess he is proof of that. I also think switching to TR, and being able to hold a higher dose longer, helped to stop the bouncing. But what that all meant was that for a good while I was worried he was too high and unregulated and bouncing all over the place, and now I'm constantly worried that he's going to be too low.I don't know what I'd do without the support of this group.
Careful what we wish for right.I'm anticipating another late night of testing/monitoring. At least he's 16 points higher than he was this time last night. I'm hoping for a nice, flat surf (please and thank you).
You're still seeing the effects of the higher depot so you might have to do what you did last night which is to carb him up from early on in the cycle. The depot will take 4-6 cycles to adjust after ab reduction.I'm anticipating another late night of testing/monitoring. At least he's 16 points higher than he was this time last night. It’s FF gravy lovers beef, but he’s decided he doesn’t like that anymore, so I’m trying to pump FF gravy lovers chicken and liver into him. What is your HC%? I see he is still dropping!
Do you know the % carbs in them? 15-16% or 20%+?It’s FF gravy lovers beef, but he’s decided he doesn’t like that anymore, so I’m trying to pump FF gravy lovers chicken and liver into him.
The beef has 20%. The chicken hearts and liver has 15%. He turned his nose up at the beef, but he ate a little of the chicken, but now he won't eat anything. I've offered him about seven different food options. As I said earlier, his appetite has been off lately since he's been in the lower numbers. He is normally a pretty hearty eater, but not tonight. And he didn't eat much earlier either.Do you know the % carbs in them? 15-16% or 20%+?
Even if he eats just the gravy, that's fine. If he will eat his usual LC, you could add a little honey/syrup to it to boost the carb%.The beef has 20%. The chicken hearts and liver has 15%. He just ate a good amount--probably a tsp or two--of the chicken (15%). I'll add honey if I need to at +4.Even if he eats just the gravy, that's fine. If he will eat his usual LC, you could add a little honey/syrup to it to boost the carb%.
How much are you feeding him after each test?
Happy to help!Thank you again, Bhooma, for your help. I hope he stops doing this. Period. Full stop. Worrisome nights like these shave time off my life![]()

I have to warn you that if he has decided to race down the dosing ladder, you are in for a bit of a ride till he gets to the dose he decides he wants to be on!
The last 3 cycles were influenced by the higher depot. Shall we see how he does in today's AM cycles (4th cycle of the reduced dose) and take a call accordingly?Do we consider a reduction at this point? He's very likely going low without the carb manipulation.
That sounds good. The last 3 cycles were influenced by the higher depot. Shall we see how he does in today's AM cycles (4th cycle of the reduced dose) and take a call accordingly?
