Edited to add 2:49 PM:

So as mentioned below, he's seemed nauseated. Yesterday he had about 7 oz of food (he normally gets 9) and today he's had maybe 1.2 oz total. He should be at about 4.5 oz by now, but he's just not really interested.

A little while ago while sleeping on my desk in front of me, I noticed he was limp and sort of sliding down between me and the desk. I tried to wake him but he was entirely floppy. I lifted his head, called him, patted him, shook him a little, nothing. His eyes were partially open with the third lid out and moving like he was dreaming, but he was otherwise completely limp and unresponsive. I took a very short video as I tried to wake him in case I might need to show someone later. Right as I was panicked enough to call my partner at work, he suddenly sat up, meowed once, and went to his food to finally take a couple of bites. ETA: It looked a lot like this video (not mine) but worse.

After that I got more worried about his not eating so I tried to give him some Mirataz. He was very unhappy with this, but hopefully I got most of the dose onto his ear before he ran away. (Which is really not great, because he was just finally becoming a little more trusting of me after days and now he's hiding.) I don't know how long that'll take to kick in.

It's odd that this is happening so suddenly, now that his numbers are pretty good. He's not hypo; he's been in the 130-150 range for most of the day.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is there something else I should be doing? Should I be worried? :( It's possible he's slept this deeply before, but I was never able to see him up close at the time. When he was a bit younger he used to sleep at the top of one of those floor-to-ceiling posts, and he'd occasionally go limp and fall off. He'd wake up and walk around like everything was fine after, and I don't know if that's the same thing, but it's the closest I've got.

Original Post: Yayyyyy for a blue PS!!! He seems to have cleared this bounce a lot quicker than usual - was back down in the blues by +7 last night and has been hanging out there.

Really hoping this is where we finally start gaining some regulation.

Downside is he seems very nauseated. I'm not sure if this is his getting used to blues again or if it's his food or maybe both. (I've noticed anecdotally that sometimes he vomits on the days he has FFCP Beef, and I've been keeping an eye on it and am starting to think that that flavor's not a good choice for him.) He didn't eat his early morning snack with his Gabapentin in it and I wasn't sure I'd be able to shoot, but he did thankfully eat some of his PS meal and will hopefully go back for more.

Hope everyone has an uneventful, safe Monday. ❤️

Yay for blues again! I have heard of members having issues with the beef pate…

Yes, finally!! So excited that this bounce cleared so quickly.

Oh, really? I'm gonna have to search for some of those threads. I've seen people elsewhere complain about the Seafood Pate but I haven't noticed any about the Beef.

That sounds very nerve-wracking. Im not sure why that would happen if his numbers are in the normal range. I'll tag more experienced members to hopefully weigh in on that.
@Angela & Cleo @Wendy&Neko @Bandit's Mom @tiffmaxee

Thank you!! ❤️

Sounds like he's done this episode before? Deep sleep in that lovely blue stretch?
ETA: Cats in better numbers don't need to eat as much to be satisfied.

I'm not sure if it's happened before, I just assumed that when he'd fallen off his post in the past he must've been really out. I wasn't seeing or interacting with him before he fell to know if he would've looked the same as today. (Also that was several years before being diagnosed with FD, so no idea what his BG would've looked like at the time.) But I have no other experience with him being completely limp as if he were dead. :( ETA: It was a lot like this video but seemed even worse (not mine).

He started eating less last night (didn't eat his whole dinner or his late night food) while he was still in the 300s, so it doesn't seem like it's just that he's in better numbers, though I'd love for that to be the case. It's 3:30 PM and he's had less all day than what he would normally have in 1 meal. He also just doesn't seem to feel very well.

ETA: He eats the FF Classic Pate cans, which are 3 oz. His usual day is as follows: 1/2 can each at 5:45 AM, 8:00 AM, 12-1ish PM, 5:45 PM, 8:00 PM, 10ish PM, for 3 cans total. He's had less than half a can by 3:30 PM.

OMG that video you posted, I know not yours) had me freaked out. I cant even imagine. I just lost one of my kitties that died suddenly (completely unexplained) so anything my other cats do now, Im watching like a hawk. Im glad he snapped out of it, but that cant be good. What doesnt the vet say about it? The BG looks great today tho.

So strange, Brianna. I don't have a clue what it might be, but that would have freaked me out. I'm glad he snapped out of it.

It was very scary! He seems to feel a little better now, not sure if that's because he's back up around 200 or what.

It was awful! I had to link to something because I didn't know how else to describe that it didn't look like he was deeply asleep, it looked more like he was dying or something. :( I hope I never see that again.

I'm so sorry to hear that you just lost one of your kitties suddenly that way! That's horrifying! And to not have any answers... I don't blame you, I'd feel exactly the same way! God, I don't even know how to respond to that. I'm so sorry.

I haven't told the vet yet since he's perked up, but I'll definitely mention it next time we talk. If it happens again I'll let her know right away because jeez.

Absolutely terrifying! I've seen Petey do it 4 or 5 times, couple times before and after diagnosis. I even put a note in his SS "pulled his playing dead move". Every time it's happened my body legit starts processing the possibility he died!! It's sooo scary! :bighug::bighug:

Glad he is clearing his bounce!

So that video looks similar to what Petey does too?? That makes me feel a little better but also I'm sorry you've had that scare too! It really is absolutely terrifying!

I've had plenty of times where he was really out and took some prodding and talking to wake, but if I were to pick him up and lift him etc he'd have woken up instantly. Not this time. Especially since it happened while he's barely eating and not feeling well it made me really worried. :(

Yes. I don't recall his eyes rolled back but we legit thought he died, a few times!!! Zero response, lights out, for what feels like forever. I have Googled it and it's a thing... no one seems to know why. Petey's BG was not even close to low.

Yeah, Id definitely mention it, because that really isnt normal. Did that video you posted have any comments with it, like did they find out what it was?

Why do they have to do these things to us? lol

According to the person who posted it, their cat has just always done this since they were a kitten. They've been thoroughly checked out multiple times and there's never any issue or reason for it. Which is really weird.

If Xander had always done this it wouldn't freak me out so much but this was while he obviously didn't feel well and wasn't eating, so it was extra "WTF."

Wow, that is really odd.
