Awwwwww (((((((((Chris)))))))))))
Now didnt you come to my rescue and offer me support in my earlier days here?! What would you have said if I suggested not posting because of all Latte's issues? ohmygod_smile Silly!
Im REALLY sorry things are so tough. I popped into your condo a few days ago, as I noticed numbers going higher and higher. I was thinking..."whats happening here?!?!". SUre enough, the first words out of your mouth were the same thing. Im sorry I did not respond that day...I believe I got distracted by a phone call as I was reading. I feel bad I did not come back and give you support. I hope you dont feel as if you are not getting any. We got your back! :YMHUG:
I think its really important for people like you, me, linda, cheryl/winnie, cassandra and sasha, and all the others who have experience with giving pred while trying to regulate, or just eleviate some of the high BG's that go along with it. For me, one of the frustrating parts is the LACK of people who post or think they shouldnt because it is 'so different'. WE need this support....WE need EACH OTHER! So, please....dont stop posting.
You can look at my ss, as I have experimented extensively with timing of pred and insulin. You should be able to see the general rule (for Latte), is a peak in BG 2-3hrs after I administer pred. That peak seems to slowly go away from about +5-+7, and then she maintains a fairly stable bg until amps. From amps until her next pred dose, she seems great overall! The struggle is finding a dose to balance out both evening and day. She goes so low sometimes during the day, but so high at night. Cassandra encourages me to believe that once we get the 'right' dose, it will balance out. So I try to hope this is true.
the eating is a challenging part as well. Latte eats better with the pred, but I dont think its fully responsible for the majority of her appetite (as a stimulant, anyway). And, often times it wavers. She does tend to want to eat about 3hrs after pred and eats mostly through the night. She does not eat as much during the day. This is a very stressful part, for me, when giving insulin. Doing a lot of testing has helped me realize when it is REALLY important for latte to eat well around shot time and when I can leave her be for a while. Of course the fear of vomiting always sits on our shoulders as well. I do a lot of babyfood if Im getting nervous. I really dont see anything wrong with it. I also let her eat kibble. She has to eat. And I have to deal with it. I actually figured today that kibble in the a.m., when dropping fast/low before heading out the door is a GOOD thing for her....if she does not chose to eat or is unable to from nausea during the day, she will have a spike to sustain her later on.
I cant remember if it was you..winnie...cassandra? Someone in the beginning told me that I should choose a range to shoot for regulation wise. Maybe at this point a constant green bg is not the best range for cleo. There is so much to juggle, so much to manage when serious and multiple issues are involved. Where does cleo seem to be the most comfortable?
Gosh, Im just babbling and probably saying things you already know. Sorry. But do know, it is important to ME that you continue posting.
I see that cleo has a fever. Is there an action plan for that? A point where you need to bring cleo in?
I do look forward to following you two a little more closely.
Hang in there!!!!
