yesrteday's condo

Her +23 (Not really a AMPS reading it was so close to the time.)=310

Gave Tasha .25 this morning. She was +2 of 257. Waiting for some more numbers, but am planing to add a shot (the .25) at the +12 . This will be the first BID instead of SID she will have ever gotten.

Just want to clarify -

In last nite's thread, you updated the +23 BG of 310

did u have a BG number at this morning's shot time? At +24 (+12 on spreadsheet)

I haven't seen it so I'm thinking there was no AMPS BG test.....
Please remember anytime you're about to shoot AMPS and PMPS you want to do a test right before you shoot.
That number will be your AMPS or PMPS BG

Please let us know if that makes sense ok? Just want to make sure - you know?

It was 20 mins. before her shot this morning. She got her shot at 10:40 yesterday and 10:00 today. Didn't make sense to check her 20 mins. after I just did. it was really close enough. Wanted a little leeway to decide what to do yesterday so her shot came a bit late. Do I have the yesterday link correct now?

Ahh I found your new condo, I posted in your other thread but I can just ask it here

Has Tasha recently been on any medications, external or internal.. in particular, steroids?

No medications of any kind. Just ordered some .5 syringes. Hopefully it will get here tomorrow. I will just have to make due with the 1 unit ones until then. Not that easy to tell a .25 on these.

Without that dry I think you'll see heck of a difference.Yes, 1u markings aren't the easiest.

Just got the +6 it was 84. just like yesterday (81) :smile: I figure I should check at +10 and then again at +12 and then give her her 1st time second dose. I am figuring a check +2 after that and then at +6 , +10 and then the AMPS. Do you think that is a useful sampling? I figured that would work, based on her morning curve of yesterday. I know in humans night time can be very different then daytime in how they respond to insulin. Is that also true with kitties?

Hi Linda!

Let me make a suggestion for the sake of consistency for measuring 0.25u until you get your half unit syringes. This is one approach to working with small doses.

Get an old syringe. Use a colored liquid -- milk, OJ, anything that's colored but not dark so the marks on the syringe will stand out. Load the syringe with the liquid and set the plunger on a full unit mark the way you ordinarily would. Hold the syringe with the needle pointing to the ceiling. Rather than pushing the plunger, twist it so you are "dialing" a drop at a time out of the syringe. Count the number of drops in a full unit. Do this a couple of times to make sure you are getting pretty close to the same number. Divide by four. That will tell you how many drops to expel in order to get a 0.25u dose for this evening.

*edit: didn't work very well. I kept getting different size drops. 7-11 drops. I was thinking of making a mark with a sharpie.

The testing times sound like a good plan. The +10 will just give you an idea of how much Tasha has gone up.
That +6 is awesome :mrgreen:

Marking the syringe is good too.Could still do the coloured water and compare.
The other thing I did as light was rubbish in our house was use an eye piece. Magnifying glass another one.

looks good! I think the BID dosing will help flatten her out.

Tasha looks JUST like a cat I helped rescue last year. I'm almost certain she was purebred Siamese, owners were foreclosed and moved away and left the cat outside the house. A neighbor had been feeding her. Very sad. Got her into rescue and now she is the queen she was always meant to be. :smile:

Tasha PMPS=214. Gave her her first evening dose of .25. Things looking good so far. Hoping for the best.
Tasha is a Seal-point Siamese btw.

Hope I can stay awake and check her at +4. I think if I wait until she peaks at +6 she might be too low.
