Sienne & Gabby - Can you buy chicken Wellness jerky locally or does it need to be purchased online? And what makes this treat healthier? I'm not sure Moses would like a chewy jerky texture, but he could.

Libby & Lucy - How did you get the sample of the Poultry Crispies? Crispy is good  It's kinda expensive, though.

*Recap = I'm trying to find a new LC treat for Moses during test time and also training for tricks. He's been loving the Greenies, but I don't think they're healthy for a diabetic sugar kitty. He's extremely picky and does not like the freeze dried stuff. Testing goes well b/c Moses expects 1 Greenies for every prick. But on hard days, where I can't get blood, it's not good to give him 6 treats for the 6 pricks or more, etc.

Moses and I would like to have more freedom with a healthy treat. Also, he loves to be trained and it's a special time we share together. Yet, we haven't lately b/c of the excess treats. (This condo's especially important to Moses, he's with me at the computer to give more input into the condo, ha!)

These are the top three he loves, are they healthy though?

1. Taste of the Wild's Rocky Mountain Feline Formula (grain-free)

2. Evo Dry Food

3. Greenies (not healthy)

Re: 2/5 Moses PMPS 230 Treat Question

I wouldn't use dry food as a treat or greenies, not sure of Taste of the Wild.

Many here use the freeze dried chicken, beef or fish treats, 100% pure meat and healthy.

Re: 2/5 Moses PMPS 230 Treat Question

Yikes, we had a taste test an hour ago (an hour before his PMPS)

Look at his yellow, no! Moses, it looks like we'll have to find a better time for tasting!

I hope I didn't just throw everything off... :?

Re: 2/5 Moses PMPS 230 Treat Question

Hey Ronnie & Luna. He doesn't touch freeze-dried food with a 20-ft pole.

Picky boy! Plus, he loves the crunch of the dry. I'm trying to find something similar, Sienne & Gabby and Libby & Lucy found some similar... I might have to try them.

Re: 2/5 Moses PMPS 230 Treat Question

Erica, I totally understand - Sadi (non diabetic) wont touch freeze dried or any snacks! I want to treat her too & am anxious to find one they both like. I have tired everything!! Good luck..

Try Only Natural Pet Poultry Crispies http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/ ... 99310.aspx (There's a post in the Supply Closet for other low carb OnlyNaturalPet.com treats and coupon codes.)

The turkey ones are crunchy just like dry food. The chicken ones are a bit harder. Miss Meowzi can tell you that she gives Poultry Crispies two big paws up :thumbup

Meowzi's mom sent me a baggie of Poutry Crispies to try. Sorry they're all gone or I would send you some. I haven't ordered more yet just because I buy freeze dried treats locally and I haven't gotten around to doing an online order. They're pricey, but so are the freeze dried ones and to me it's worth it because it made Lucy love her testing time so much.

Wow, what awesome tips and help! Thank you so very much squeem3 and Libby & Lucy, I'll need to get my orders in!

It's Moses +4 and I poked him over 10 times and not one good test! I got one big droplet and then my meter said "error". Yuck, I don't like nights like that.. of course Moses got tons of treats, so maybe he didn't mind. When we got to the 12th stab, I called it quits.

I've had times like this but usually around #7 it works. Anybody else experience the same?

I'm happy that Moses was cool with it. Alright, goodnight ya'll!
