Yesterday's Condo

I was so encouraged by yesterday's blues and even a green, and now I'm disappointed by today's yellows - even though they are low - and a blue. My patience pants don't fit very well. Perhaps I need to have them altered.

Cinco is otherwise doing well, although he has developed a disconcerting habit of only eating a couple of bites of his first breakfast (the one he gets at shot time), and leaving it alone until it's time for his second breakfast, at which time he cleans both plates. DH has tried adding kitty krak, and more recently crumbs of FD salmon, but Cinco just doesn't like to eat when he first wakes up. Yesterday Mark woke him and put him in the lb (because his pattern is to eat the two bites, then head for the lb), left him while he set everything up, and then did the t/f/s routine - Cinco still wasn't terribly interested in eating. Mark said all Cinco wants is to go potty then go btb. So far this lack of adequate food on board at shot time doesn't seem to be affecting his BGs, but I don't think it's a good thing. Unfortunately, Mark can't hang around and do a plate chase to try to get him to eat more. I guess if I'm really concerned about it, I could haul my lazy rear out of bed and do it.... :YMSIGH: Should I be concerned?

Sasha is doing a little better. Today I think I got everything right. I gave her the bupe, then the ondansetron and pepcid as soon as I woke up, then 90 minutes later I brought her breakfast, of which she ate all but one little bite. An hour later I gave her the Clavamox. About 90 minutes ago I offered her a snack with some SEB in it, and she ate it with enthusiasm!! :-D So now I have to successfully repeat the process tonight (and tomorrow, etc.). I'm just glad she's finally eating a decent amount and doesn't seem uncomfortable. She hasn't hidden in the closet once today! :-D :-D

I was tackling a long delayed project of cleaning out some of my drawers today, under Sasha's watchful eyes. It' s been ten years since I quit work, and I still had two drawers full of nylons! I can count on one hand the number of times I've worn them in the past year - people just don't dress up in Northern CA. So today I finally sorted through them, threw out a LOT of knee highs that were so old the elastic was disintegrating. As I worked, nosey Miss Minka came and crawled in the drawer I was working on. I didn't think much of it, and when I had all the nylons sorted and distributed elsewhere, I filled the empty drawer with something else. I was about to walk away when I decided to check and make sure no stray knee highs had migrated to the drawer below (I still had some unmatched ones). I opened that drawer and there was Minka, curled up and half asleep!!!! :o There's no telling how long she would have been stuck there if I hadn't opened that drawer! There is no way to get out from under the bed (it's a pedestal with drawers) except through the drawers or a door at the end that's closed and blocked by a cedar chest. She didn't appreciate being removed from her cosy nest, either.

I have more drawers to clean out, so I'm off to get back at it, hopefully without furry helpers.

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

Re: 8/6 Cinco AMPS 222 + 3 205 +5 178 +7.5 221

Cinco!! Tell me where it hurts! Why the lousy numbers? Your mama isn't very happy with you right now..come on boy....I miss you down at the lagoon... we have some new toys!! ~ China

He sure is being a snot, isn't he? ("snot" being a very technical term only used by the medical profession...LOL)

Supervisor Sasha wanted to make sure you did the job right! Good thing you happen to notice Minka snoozing peacefully in the sock drawer :o

Come on now Cinco...it's time to get serious and work that juice!

Re: 8/6 Cinco AMPS 222 + 3 205 +5 178 +7.5 221

It sounds like Cinco will eat eventually. I don't think I'd worry unless AMPS is a really low number. Maybe then your DH could wake you up. I'm glad Sasha ate good for you today. It's a good thing you found Minka. Kitties love to curl up in drawers.

Hi Trisha,

Rusty eats in exactly the same manner: he grazes, eating a little right after AMPS, then taking a nap, and then finishing up his breakfast when it is almost lunch time. Lunch he grazes on all afternoon. At dinner time he eats nothing until about 3 hours after PMPS, when we all sit on the couch and watch TV. Then he cleans the bowl. I figure that as long as he eats, it's OK. I wouldn't worry about Cinco unless he stops eating.

Great story about the nylons! I threw out all of mine years ago.

Have a great evening. Continued vines for both Cinco and Sasha.

Thanks for the visits and the insight, Chris, Carla and Ella. I feel better about Cinco's pattern now. The thing is, at his PM shot time, he generally cleans his plate and asks for more! It's not like we don't have to wake him up for that one, too! I guess he's more deeply asleep in the morning, as all has been quiet for hours, whereas at PM, I've been bustling around, and there are all kinds of things going on. Or he's just being a cat!

Yes, Chris, a "snot" he is! He keeps getting my hopes up and then sends them crashing down. If he hadn't just been given a clean bill of health at UCD, I'd be worried something was wrong, but all his test showed he's fine, and he is otherwise being completely normal for him, so WTH is up with those numbers???? I asked if he had a message for China, and he said: Tell her I'll get back to her! Snot!

I have a hair appointment at noon tomorrow, so I'll be gone from +4.5 to about +7.5 or +8. I imagine that will be when the action happens, right? Murphy's law!

I gave Sasha all her meds the same way as this morning, and she ate about half her dinner on the first try. She was doing a little lip smacking first, so I searched the area to make sure the gelcap with her meds in it hadn't somehow gotten away, but I'm reasonably sure she swallowed it, so I'll be headed up to offer more food and give her the AB soon. She's still not in the closet, so I consider that a good sign.

I can't eat breakfast in the mornings; the thought of eating actually repulses me. Evening, though.....well, that's a different story. I could eat all night long. (Maybe that's why I'm not hungry in the morning!) I think it just takes time for my stomach to "wake up" in the morning. Maybe Cinco is the same way?

I'm sending lots of thoughts and prayers out for Sasha. :YMHUG:

I know how Cinco feels, I am with Shelly, I was never an early morning breakfast eater either! That is until I quit working a few years ago, now that I can relax, and have a normal routine, I can eat breakfast! LOL Glad to hear he is feeling good otherwise! Patience Pants?? When Tiger's numbers were bouncing, I went shopping and found a new great pair of patience pants- actually they are yoga capri pants  And regarding those old nylons, you can re-purpose them to use as tomato ties in your greenhouse, I don't think they ever disintegrate

So glad to hear Sasha is doing so well, hope the same for Minka Harvey and you!

Max was always a grazer until he became diabetic. Now he is always hungry. I've been told that grazing is healthier for them, especially with pancreatitis. I bet Sasha's appetite will improve when the antibiotic is no longer needed. How much longer? I'm sending appy vines your way.
