Usually a flat yellow cycle means action the next cycle, but I've not noticed that with any other colors. I hope Gussie gives you a blue/green surf today.

    Hey Les,

When kitties get regulated like Gus, the flatness in normal numbers is the perfect Lantus curve.:cat: I forget, do you have an auto feeder that you leave snacks for him through the day?

I think Gussie has achieved beautiful regulation. Hopefully those preshots will start to come down a bit but I wouldn't be concerned.

I agree with the others. When Max spends several days/weeks flat he eventually needs a reduction. Since he's a long term diabetic every time it happens I think it will be the new norm until he surprises me with a low number or occasionally needs an increase . Have a great Friday!

    Hi
, thanks for getting back to me. I did buy not one but 3 auto feeders ( 3cats, 3 feeders..logical right?) Gus sleeps thru it, one cat runs and hides and the third cat after making sure it's not rigged to explode eats everything ( he's no dainty miss as my grandma used to say so doesn't need a triple ration!
    I am his auto feeder!
I can stop by once today but fairly early in the cycle, then I'm away until @ +9.

Ok I don't know what he was at +3 but it was probably below 57 now. I'm going to give him some LC as I don't want him dropping below 50 while I am back out at work. Thinking he is carrying thru with wanting that reduction... Not such great timing tho..one cycle later would have been helpful!

I feel your pain. TiTi is equally inconvenient.
Can you confine Gus to one room, and lock the other 2 out? If so, you can put down some food for him to nosh on. That'll keep him safe.

Gave LC raw and Weruva, not still dropping after 30 but
I wish, unfortunately can't. I will try to stay here as long as I can, some teachers of my kids are forgiving, some not so much..

He's not really hungry either, just kinda lethargic, worrisome.. Will be switching to some gravy if he doesn't bump up a bit soon...when he decides to dive it's a high dive so need to catch it..he tells me he's ready for a reduction usually pretty emphatically..

Perhaps with the 20% + or - variance, he really is below 50 and is having a symptomatic hypo. I think if it were me, I would give a bit more gravy and bump him up to the higher and take the reduction tonight.

Not sure, he is lounging.. I gave him a bit more gravy, he's not into food, and got him to at least track a catnip toy he would not swat at it. But he is now cleaning his butt and belly so I'm thinking he is getting the gravy bump?

Les, snapping the tail is a sign of aggravation and that is one of the symptoms of hypo. I think he was experiencing a hypo event IMHO . Before you dose tonight, ask the rest of the board what they think. Maybe I am overreacting.

Glad you are staying home with Gussie!!! Not to alarm you, but acting spaced out and weird can also be symptoms of seizures as well as hypos. Seizures go along with Hypos too. Been there and done that.

I'm not so sure he was hypo. JMHO of course. You mentioned he's been a bit agitated lately. I'm glad you could stay home. This all confirms it was good I retired before Max became diabetic, especially with the last witch I had as a principal.

Last night those flat cycles had me thinking the reduction was coming.

Yes, they can snap out of it quickly! Grooming is definitely a good sign!! Shoes had a 2nd mini hypo a month after his almost fatal one and in the mini one, he was staring into space while sitting in a weird place in the house so my spidey senses told me to check him and he was 30! And after getting the high carb food for several minutes, he was okay and normal.

Now that's a scary notion. Some of my students seize but I would have no clue what to do for him. I did have a cat with cancer who seized toward the end, bad seizures so I've seen it but felt pretty helpless at the time

Rover had that staring into space hypo before I joined the forum. He also walked like a first-time drunk teenager, unaware of anything but putting one foot forward. See what Gussie is like on his feet (even though it will make that tail lash). Hands close by.

I try not to make the same mistakes too many times! He is really grouchy, and some of that HC and honey seems to be wearing off, down from 140 to 126 in the last 30 so hoping he settles into. Nice number before PM shot time...

Never really hit panic, I've come to believe that in the throws of the situation there isn't room for panic! That comes after the fact for me if I look at the What ifs!?
