This morning's AMPS is the lowest in a few days, that's a good sign! Keep going, Ivana.

In other news, our Little Princess has been refusing to eat all meals that I've added the SEB slurry to. She sniffs it, nibbles it, then leaves most of it - not before doing 'the yowl' to complain. Last night's midnight snack was accidentally HC (same size tins both open in the fridge and both pate-style, and I clearly just didn't pay enough attention to what I was doing) and even that was half left this morning, so it looks like the SEB is not going to work if she's not going to eat it. I've currently been using the recipe that Bron uses and adding it to two meals a day, I might try diluting it to half strength and adding it to four meals a day, see if she doesn't notice it that way. I'm going to the vet this morning to pick up some more k/d tins that we've been using as HC, so I will ask the vet if she has any more ideas.

That is a good idea to try giving a smaller amount and see how she goes. I would start off really small and see if that works and gradually work up to the amount you want to give.
Good luck.

Doodles did the same thing with SEB & the pumpkin :( Probably why the poor guy spend yesterday at the vet getting fluids because he's backed up with poop. I'm just going back to the miralax as it dissolves in water real well with no taste. Is Ivana pooping OK or was the SEB more for tummy upset...just curious.

Ok Ivana...good start now slide on down for mama today sweet girl!

Is Ivana pooping OK or was the SEB more for tummy upset
She's pooping fine (touch wood), the SEB is for her tummy. Oh yeah, she's off the pumpkin too, just to narrow my choices even further :banghead: She seems to change her food preferences weekly, I can't keep up!

That's the plan, hopefully Ivana is on board with this plan too...

I stopped in to the vet this morning and spoke briefly with Ivana's primary vet about her upset tummy - she is going to do some investigation about what alternatives to SEB and pumpkin would be helpful for her, and call me back with more info. In the meantime I'm still going to go with the reduced SEB.

I also needed to pick up some more k/d food (which we use for HC). I was given my 8 tins and when I went to pay for them the receptionist said "No charge for those". Say what?! Apparently another customer had returned them because her kitty didn't like them, so they gave them to me for free as they knew Ivana would eat them. I admit I cried a bit, because that was just the nicest thing to do when they could have just charged me as normal, but instead they were considerate enough to realise how helpful that extra little bit of money would be given Ivana's recent expenses. I <3 our vet!

Congrats on the reducie! Looks like Ivana kept you on your toes all day. :D

Some thoughts on the SEB: You could try giving it to her in a syringe. Is she hard to pill? My cats didn't like the taste, so I put the powder in gelcaps and gave it that way. I hope you are able to find a workable solution.

Your vet sounds wonderful. There are some really good people in this world. :cat:

Into the reds at PM+4, this is gonna be some bounce! At least we can sleep again tonight.

Is she hard to pill?
Yes, "hard" is an understatement :-) I gave her 1/4t (down from 1t) of the SEB in her tuna tonight, it remains uneaten. Maybe I should have started with 1/8t, I will do that tomorrow. I'm determined to try to get it into her unless an alternative makes itself known, so hopefully she eats her midnight snack with it.

Tara, I know someone else mentioned at some stage using capsules for the Slippery Elm - if Ivana continues to dislike the slurry then maybe you could look at those instead, if she is easy to pill?
