Fought me a bit during testing. If he hadn't moved I could've gotten it in 1 poke. Instead he moved and I did a half poke with little blood then I got attacked for said poke. Got it the second time thankfully. He wasn't pleased. He ate some chicken at least.
Bouncing this morning from those blues. Gave him the same dose this morning. Which means I can't change the dose until Monday. My weekends are always busy outside of the house so it has to be done during weekdays when I can be home to monitor.
He had a good appetite. He didn't lick the bowl clean like usual but he ate most of it. The injection went fine. Gonna try to get a +3 but I doubt he'll dip much.
Hope everybody has a great Friday!:bighug:

Slept through my alarm for the +3. I think I'll give him a poke break today since he's not going down much. He has some bruising on his right ear where I accidentally poked near a vein when he moved on me. Sometimes he won't hold still long enough for me to apply pressure so I'm sure that's also been part of it but I usually do. I put ointment on every time still. Need to work with his left ear more even though it results in him tearing my arm to shreds.

We do paw pads and ears, but my cats hates having his ears touched after years of ear meds for allergies.

Now might be a good time to give him that break and practice "fake" testing to just reward him for going through the motions, but not testing...maybe after a few times of no pokes he will not be so conditioned to expect badness each time you attempt a test.

Watching to see how quickly he clears this bounce :)

He hates his paw pads touched. I could attempt to try them though. I'll do that. Thanks.:)

aww bummer...my guy hates his front paws, but I cut his rear ones and he doesn't seem to to care much.
I just cradle him in between my knees -belly up, set a treat on his chest and grab a foot most times
Just wanted to give you other options in case you had a day where you really needed a test and the stress of the ears was making it mission impossible.

Oh, he hates his feet touched, especially the rear ones. His nails are very sharp and he's naturally a very impatient and aggressive cat. I think the paw pads will be very difficult but I will still attempt it some time. He doesn't like be held and moved though. That's a good tip though for when I do try.

Grabbed a ketone test and it started turning the peach color. A little worried.

Was very patient during his PMPS. Such a good boy this evening. He let me clean his ear after too since it had a lot of ointment build up on his head where he bathes. Put some more ointment on there of course. Ate his chicken treat.
Smelled some insulin after his injection and a little wet but some had dropped down when I pushed out the excess so that may be it. I'll note it as a possible furshot on my spreadsheet. Still eating well, gave some extra water than usual in his food. Maybe he can pee some more. Hopefully the ketones don't become worse.

Well done getting the ketone test.
I would grab another ketone test when you can to check what's happening.
There is no mention of ketones in his past in the signature. Has he ever had them?

May be my monitor but that strip looks negative to me...

Sorry he's still so aggressive after the pokies.

Luci never would let me touch her feet...I posted a little video of me trying to touch her feet...let me see if I can find it...

It's pretty short - but you'll get the point...LOL!

When I spot him go to the litterbox I'll grab another test. No, I only started testing after he was diagnosed with diabetes. All the tests have shown negative up to this point.

Sorry, my pictures are a bit blurry. It shows a large peach splotch in the center of the second. The first had a couple spots so I tested again to make sure and it showed more peach. Perhaps it's a false positive though.
My cats react the same way as yours haha

It is hard to read the Ketostix strips sometimes when they are negative. I can remember agonising over whether they were negative or trace at times. If they are not obviously trace then they are most likely negative.
You need to make sure you are in a very good light and read exactly 15 seconds after dipping in urine.

I often have to hold it up to a piece of white paper first - then the bottle's color key....
otherwise, it starts to look like all the smaller amounts the longer I stare at the strip.

Hoping it's negative :bighug:

That's good to know. Probably negative then.

A little upset for his before bed test but not too bad, one poke. In the high blues. Also got another ketone test and it was negative. I tested 2 strips and I grabbed it straight from the source so it should be accurate.
