I seem to be posting once a week lately instead of everyday ... SIL and old uncle are keeping me so busy!
    I finally got the results for Acro and IAA ( @Wendy&Neko, @Olive & Paula ) :

    If I convert this 114 nmol/L, it gives a 870 ng/ml, so below 1000!

What do you think about all this Wendy ?

You don't need to convert to ng/ml, take the 114 at face value. Normal range is 12-92, so 114 is above that. Sorry, but it does mean acromegaly, perhaps low level. :bighug: If you look at the post where people log their test results, we have had acros of 112 and 116. I have also heard Chris from the Royal Veterinary Clinic (who do use ng/ml) say that they think 1000 is too high a number, and they should probably lower it. Here is the video on that. It is nice that you don't have to deal with IAA as well.

    What did your vet say?

By the way, if you are seeing nadirs in the 70's and below and want to increase, I would do it by 0.25 units, not 0.5 when you are over a total of 5.0 units. You just need to "fatten" the dose a bit. I am a little worried that you are now 0.75 units above a dose that got you into the 30's just 12 days ago.

A low acro perhaps. But acro none the less.

Sorry to hear that Ti-Mousse is another one to join group. Not a group that one wants to be apart of that's for sure. :(

I knew I had to ask you before celebrating....

I thought it was weird that two different systems didn't give the same results: under ng/ml range he was OK, but under nmol/L he was low acro!! Thanks for the video where Chris really mentions that the 1000 treshold was probably too high and could be lowered eventually!

After reading the comments from MSU, the vet thinks that trying to regulate his diabetes, monitoring for any acro symptoms will be enough for now and maybe have him tested again in 6 months to see if numbers went up ...

Poor Ti-Mousse I feel so bad for not increasing properly ... a good thing you're checking on us !! :bighug: I'll remember the fattening!

Now let's see if I can take my ti-minou OTJ even if he's acro. If not, at least keep him happy and feeling good !

Thanks for everything Wendy; so lucky to have you around !! :bighug:

Just with increases of insulin. Cabergoline would be my only option but Freckles is not showing any noticeable signs of acro. Several vets that I called would refer me to an internal specialist in another city, but none will write a script for the cabergoline as they don't know enough and there isn't very much research behind it.

When I answered you yesterday, I forgot to click on "reply".... the following was my answer to you which ended up as a general post!!

No worries. I read it as directed to me. Another thing that Chris said in that video is that they use a different assay for the testing. We recently discovered the UK is using a different assay for fructosamine tests too, so what is a normal vs. out of range is different there too from North America.

Hi Lyane, So sorry to read of the ACRO diagnosis, but I'm sure that you're doing everything you can to make him as healthy and happy as he can be. He's so lucky to have chosen you and his furever mama....we all do the same for our kitties...some of us just will do it longer than others - those lucky one's who've gone to the Falls soon after getting that news...

Take care and enjoy your precious Ti!

Thanks Sue! You can be sure I'll do my best for my lovely ti-minou!! :)

This reminds me of something you wrote in a post that really touched me.. "I saw them join us...and the numbers just fell right into place...and they had an OTJ party - like being a bridesmaid and never a bride" !:bighug:

5 years a bridesmaid, but for most of that I had a happy healthy cat that had a good QOL. That's what counts.
