Ivana is still going super at the Falls! I'm a bit surprised about how low she's sitting on her own - I guess it explains why she she often dropped so low and never had any hypo symptoms. Anyway, I'm not complaining, it leaves her with a bit of room to move :-)

In other news, hubby and I are 'training' Ivana to sit on our lap. In the 15 yrs she's been in our family, we can count on two fingers the number of times she's willingly sat on our lap - one was at Bron & Sheba's place because she was terrified, and the other was for Father's Day a couple of years ago (hubby was stoked at her timing!). Since her remission and the subsequent reduction of treats being doled out, we've worked out we can lure her onto our lap with treats, and then encourage her to sit down (ie a gentle push on her bum) and then give her another treat while she sits, and then she will lay down of her own accord. She layed down on my lap for a whole 3 minutes the other day, and even purred! :woot: Hubby thinks we're going well with training her, I think she's going well with training us to give her treats ;)

So nice to hear from you, Tara, and know that all is well with Ivana at the Falls.

Harvey was never a lap cat, either. The most he would do is jump up on my lap and stand there for a minute to be petted, and then move to the arm of my chair. Lately he's spending more time standing in my lap, and a couple of times he's actually sat down for a moment! I don't know if it's old age and infirmity, or the fact that he's an only cat now, but I'm enjoying - I miss my cuddly girls!

That's great news Tara!! Shoes is not a lap cat either so when he does get in my lap, I am thrilled!

Nice BG Ivana!
Boomer will sit on my legs if I'm stretched out on the couch, but only for a few minutes. Sometimes he'll sit between us on the couch. He does come to bed with me middle of the night and stretches out alongside me and is usually there when I wake in the morning.

Ivana is the only cat I've ever had (and I've had a lot over the past 40 yrs!) who isn't a lap cat. I don't know why, but I guess it's just her personality that she doesn't show affection in that way. She was a rescue with an unknown history, and when we first adopted her we didn't see her for the first 6 mths as she hid under the lounge or behind the fridge the entire time except for feeding time. It wasn't until she'd been living with us for about 10 yrs that she would even jump up onto the lounge to sit near us. Laying on the bed took even longer. And to this day she still doesn't like being picked up or carried, or covered with anything included enclosed cuddles. So it has taken her a looooong time to come out of her shell, and we're so chuffed that this "lap training" is something that she's happy to be part of :cat::woot:

I rescued Dre as a baby and carried him etc.... even so he does not like being picked up or held either...
He does like when I swoop him up from behind with his bum up and head down like a airplane ???
His hieness always gets his way:rolleyes:
Rico likes to sleep on mama:)
