Sorry, no advise to share, but I'll definitely be checking in on what others have to say cause I am curious on how this whole "R" thing works. Good luck tonight! I hope you see some nice results soon :)

It depends on how high your PMPS is if you give it then. You can give it in a separate needle the same time as the lantus. Then you test every Hr. for the next 4 hours to make sure she doesn't go too low. When you try it you want and experienced person with the R to check with you every Hr. to make sure your kitty is doing okay. Julie and Wendy stayed up with me on Toby's first trial. The first time you start with just a drop. You push the plunger way down and stick it in the vial and then let up on it and you should have a drop. You may want to practice first before the shot.

It appears that your nadir is probably around +5 or +6, so I'd be inclined to shoot the R around +10 as you've suggested. You want it to get in and start working to bring down the baseline (AMPS/PMPS). You also don't want the insulins to nadir at the same time.

For microdosing, as you will be doing with R to start off with, I practiced with a used syringe and a cup of water. Extract .5u or 1u and see how many of large and/or small drops you can get from that quantity. That will help you be able to see how much to draw up, and flick off. You will definitely be using a fresh syringe for the R; no cross-contamination and no guessing which insulin you flicked off.

Good luck - hopefully this will be the first of some good numbers you'll see. Keep in mind that the insulin-resistant kitties are often resistant to the R as well. Grayson barely moved for less than 3u - but you have to go up slowly with R, as some will respond to barely a sniff.

Good luck Anne with the trail, suggest you tag Julie or Wendy to help see you through the first dose, i'll be watching and cheering Hyde on.

What time is your shot time? I presume you are EST - I'm trying to see if someone with R experience can help tomorrow. I'm not available tomorrow, but can be on Sunday. One option for R is to try something like around +9 or +10 if you know she's on her way up then. As for dose, practice either a drop or a .1U (which I started with) and see what you can get consistently.

I am around tomorrow and am on PDT so your +9 or +10 tomorrow afternoon would likely be a time I'll be available to help you. Can you tell me what actual time that is in eastern time? I think that would be better than trying to do your first shot at tonight's +10. I know most of us west coasters will be sound asleep and it's better for you to be awake and alert, IMHO.

I've been using R a few years now and have helped many use it if you are comfortable with that.

I'm happy to be a back-up for Marje. I will be around tomorrow and will check in.

I'd start with 0.1u. There are photos of this on the New to the Group sticky.

Just for kicks I went back to the condo with the first time we used R with Punkin. Here's the one from 2 days later, 1/24/12 punkin. There was some good information on that one, then go back 2 more days to 1/22 and that talks about the first R trial for punkin. You might find something interesting in those.
