Well good morning all!! It was a relief not having to get up earlier to check her BG but she still got me up early for food before her breakfast time. I figured I would stay in her normal times for feedings so her BG this morning at 7 am was 42. I guess her being obnoxious was justified both earlier and now! I fed her ff pate with a smidge of GL for breakfast. I only gave ff pate last night and early this morning. She’s been more rambunctious running around the house this morning. Feeling her oats as they say! Hope everyone has a great day and your kitties surf safely! :):):)

HAPPY DAY

Well after she was all settled this morning with eating and playing, I left to drop my daughter off to ballet and run a bunch of errands with ease. How I’ve missed that!
She is very happy and playful. Back to her old self! I bought them all new squeaky mice toys today and they loved them! Early Christmas presents for them as I couldn’t wait!
One observation I have made today and last night, is that when her sugars are on the lower side , she becomes very vocal for food and when they are over 50 she’s not as obnoxious. I previously had contributed it to the insulin making her act that way but I guess that is just her!
The second observation since no insulin is that the constant jerky motions she had been doing have all stopped. I really think that the Lantus precipitated these random shakes- some of which were very noticeable while others were subtle to the touch. Anyone else see their cats react this way? I’m not talking about when you inject but rather a constant thing especially more pronounced early on after the injection continuing through the first 1/2-3/4 of the cycle. LMK
Well, I hope everyone’s day was good and I hope your nights are quiet!! :)

That's the best news of all! :joyful::joyful::joyful: Happy day 1.

Was Charlotte doing the shakes even on the itty bitty doses?
Yes, she was doing it but not as pronounced. They were like nervous twitches almost like when people have a nervous tic. Definitely more noticeable within the hour after her injection. They’re all gone now! :) I did read from a VCA post that some cats have this type of reaction to lantus but I could never find it mentioned in any other article. Even an IM vet I know had never heard or had seen this with it. ????? Weird is all I know!

Ok but how do I link it? Sorry but I’m not too computer savvy! Thanks!
  • Open the previous day’s condo
  • Copy the browser address
  • Start a new condo
  • Put your cursor In the first text box, type a title like “yesterday” or the date and highlight it
  • Click on the hyperlink icon (looks like a paper clip) above the text box
  • Paste the browser address you copied into the box that opens
  • Click “insert”.

We have seen that some cats here have a reaction to the acid base of Lantus. Typically at higher doses, but some on smaller doses as well. One of the reasons we usually suggest Levemir to kitties with secondary endocrine conditions that can mean higher doses (eg. acromegaly, IAA, Cushings). I've even seen some people refer to a personality change. For me, Neko used to occasionally walk away during her Lantus shot (causing fur shots), but purred through Lev shots.

It's long, but there are mentions of twitches in this post.
