The Freestyle is a lot more yellow.

Yes, it certainly is... @Wendy&Neko did you find when you checked out other human meters available in Canada that you had a different preference? I have the Ultra 2 as well, but it needs a larger drop of blood, and I still had FSL strips and was familiar with the FSL because it is similar to my pet meter.

Mav sure loves those sunny yellow numbers! Wonderful to hear how full of energy he is, though - that's good news.

Thanks Darrah, I am still running a separate tally of AT2 readings, just for a while, and as Wendy mentioned, while the FSL is showing yellows, those are usually pinks or sometimes low reds, but at least he is showing movement into blues and greens now.

Mav was having a fun time again this morning, so I tend to not care so much about the numbers anymore when I see him like that :).

Yesterday's condo

I have a vetty appointment for my civvie, Jester tomorrow, mostly just a wellness check, but I think I'll ask for a blood panel as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to my US neighbours!

The only other human meter I tried was the Bayer Contour. Mind you, that was 5.5 years ago, and available meters/strips have changed since. Since I live so close to the border, I ended up switching to the Relion Confirm. I liked the smaller blood drop. At first I got strips from the Bellingham Walmart, then ordered the Glucocard 01 and it's strips from ADW online and had them delivered to a friend and then a post box just across the line. I was highly amused at the looks I got from the border guards when asked what the most expensive thing I was bringing and I answered - diabetes test strips for my cat. :p:rolleyes: The eyeroll was almost guaranteed. I'd stock up with 500 or so at a time.

I did try the Freestyle as my first meter, but at that time (and I think things have changed now), the Freestyle never gave you higher numbers. It seemed to max out at low pinks, which meant a lot of yellows. Well, when you've got a big gulper like Neko, it's misleading and you don't do increases as large or as fast as you should. Her 2012 SS looked like two different cats. But like I said, the Freestyle seems to have changed since then. There will be lower numbers than any human meter than the AT in the high numbers.

You are so right to pay attention to how the cat feels, and not so much the numbers. :) Good luck at the vetty.
