Hey all. Sorry we were AWOL again. There is just so much to do around here that I never seem to sit down for more than a minute.
Cinco is making me wonder if we have a failed reduction going on here.
AMPS was his highest in almost a month. I guess I give it another day or two and we'll see. It's possible there's a little stress in play. Unable to reach his hot spot with the soft collar on, he started a new one!!
I had no choice but to put the very large hard collar on him this morning - the one he had to wear when he had that hot spot on his leg from the pain patch when he had his eye removed. He's banging around here now. He's forgotten how to negotiate things and I guess he gave up trying to get into his lb and peed beside it.
This is not going to be a fun couple of weeks as we wait for the new one to heal. I wish I knew why this is happening. The only thing I can think of is boredom. I read somewhere that this is one of the most common reasons cats get hot spots. Well, he certainly doesn't have an exciting life, but I don't know what i can do to fix that. I give him as much attention as I can, but with everything else going on with the other cats, I know it's not enough. I'm really frustrated and depressed about this. I feel awful putting that thing on him, but what choice do I have???
Minka had a so-so day yesterday. It was acupuncture day and she surprised the vet and me by eating the treats Dr. K offered (she's been offering them every session and Minka always snubs them. Last time she ate two little one, and this time she ate several). Dr. K was delighted. Then, as we were chatting and she was getting the needles ready, Minka decided she wanted more and stuck her face in the container (which Dr. K had left on the table near her)! Silly cat. She had some turkey from my sandwich on the way home, but didn't eat much of her dinner, and only a little bit in the evening. This morning she didn't want anything to do with her breakfast. I gave her some Cerenia and Cypro this afternoon and she's had about a third of a jar of baby food and some chicken broth. The good news is that I weighed her and she's actually up a couple ounces from when I weighed her last week, so my following her around all day with a jar of baby food is paying off! I e-mailed the oncologist a progress report and asked about increasing her Pred dose (currently 1/2 tablet a day). She wrote back that she agreed it was time to try it. She said if she's not better next week she wants to see her again and probably refer her to IM for further evaluation.
Sasha's appy continues to be just okay, but boy, when that baby food comes out, she goes ape! It's really funny to see her come hopping at top speed into a room when she realizes I am feeding Minka some, and she tries so hard to climb into my lap and get to it! Of course, she gets some.
Harvey is still being Mr. Picky about the cat food I'm serving, but he, too wants the baby food. I wish Costco sold it by the case!
Sorry for the novel. Just thought I would catch everyone up on why I'm not around so much lately. I need to run out and get some groceries and pick up that painting of Kisa from the framer. I hope you are all having a great Friday.
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Carla & Callie and Georgia & Simon.
Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

I don't think my bad back could handle that! Even Cinco alone would probably do me in!
