It's been a pretty exhausting day for me. Not so much for Jenks because he's slept most of it away.
When I got up to spot check him at +4, I was expecting him to be flat in the 60s-70s. Instead, what I found was Jenks waiting outside the door meowing, every bit of breakfast food on the plate licked clean, and a test result of 39 (45 on the recheck, both within meter variance). In my stupor, I gave him some gravy and some karo, some dry treats, and opened another can of food which he went after in large gaping bites. He was up to safe numbers an hour later, so I tried to catch a few more zzzzz's before the next check-in. A couple hours later, he was up to 103 and I was both thankful that he didn't dive again, but also a little worried that he might blow up into the evening. But by PMPS, he's back down to 70! And hungry again!!!! Maybe I'll have to put two cans of food out in the AM until we get his numbers stabilized....
This is only our third cycle at 10U, but that 39/45 really complicates the decision-making process. It happened at the worst possible time of day for me, and it's also a no-nonsense number. I reviewed the spreadsheet from the last time OH left town, and we ultimately made it down to 9.5U. So I made the executive decision to cut the dose another half unit to 9.5U tonight. I hope it's exactly what he needs to just surf out this coming week in great, but safe, numbers!
