I woke up in the middle of the night to check his sugar, and noticed he was laying all the way in the corner of his room . He didn’t get up to greet me or meow. I checked his sugar and it was 200 at +6. A little high, but he started off high last night so I figured it was ok, but he did seem lethargic.

This morning, he didn’t wanna eat. Seemed interested when I was opening cans and sniffed the food, but didn’t eat any. He had a bite of the treats I gave him but didn’t even eat the whole thing. :( I don’t know what’s going on.

I gave him only 1 unit Lantus today, and left one can with potassium out. I took his onesie off so he is more comfortable. He didn’t seem dehydrated but i did think maybe he was breathing faster than usual overnight. I don’t know if it’s his heart or he’s in pain? I had to run to work of course and couldn’t investigate more.

Plan for today is to pick up more Cerenia at the vet, restart 1/2 pill and appetite stimulant. I’m stopping all the heart meds again as long as his breathing is OK. And will pick up a rotisserie chicken tonight and will try hand feeding him. Will decide about pain meds later too, maybe we will try a small dose of Bupe if he seems to have pain.

Just wanted to keep you guys updated. Really unexpected change. Don’t really understand it.

Ana, am sending vines for Frosty to feel better today. Hang in there❤️.
(Btw: I didn’t realize before that Frosty is from Acc. Spunky and Bella are nycacc tbd “alumna” as were GA Bo and Scoops).❤️

Sorry to hear he isn't hungry today. Maybe he will eat while you are at work.:bighug:

Two of our kittehs have variable hunger - Leo (diabetic) and Chinus. With diabetics, it always seems so challenging. Today we are lucky, and Leo is eating a lot. Chinus likes to pick at her food, and does not always eat at regular meal time.

I always keep you and Frosty in my prayers, so sending those and vines for him to hang in there and start feeling better, and I hope you can get him to eat something for you. Love and :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: to both of you.

Oh goodness! I hope this is just a temporary bump in the road. I hope the Cerenia works at the very least. Sending you hugs and vines of healing and comfort for Frosty! I hope he turns this right back around! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

How much buprenex do your cats tolerate, guys? Our vet gave us 0.03mg/kg and it knocked him out last time and we had to bring him to the hospital. I was gonna try 0.01/kg tonight (1/3rd if the dose).
I also have 100 mg gabapentin at home for his anxiety but I don’t wanna give it bc technically it’s for neuropathic pain and pancreatitis responds better to opioids (at least in humans).

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!!

So I left Frosty with food with K powder in it and went to work, but didn’t close the door. The other cats ate and normally may look at his food through the doorwa, and even sniff it, but don’t ever eat it. Still, normally I don’t leave medication in the food out like that since we have 2 other cats and a dog, but I did today.

I get to work and check the nest cam, and my civvie Bella is munching on his food! I put the mic on and I’m yelling “Bella, No! Bella! U get away from that food Bella, it’s not for you! Bella, no! No Bella! She pays no attention... I hope no one was near my car at that tume, or they probably thought I was nuts.

So now the food is almost gone and I am half freaking out half really mad at her. Of course it’s my fault, I should have closed Frosty in the room with the food. I’m thinking, well, it’s just a little extra potassium... thankfully she has no kidney problems so she should be able to pee it out. But now Frosty has no food!

I called the pet sitter to come by and she give him some new food. He ate maybe 1/4th of it while I was gone, mostly slept out of view somewhere.

When I got home, he ate another probably 1/2 of that can and maybe 1-2 oz grilled chicken. I gave him cerenia, entyse, and 0.01 mg/kg buprenex. No cardiac meds today.

Then I went to sleep (this is how I deal with things nowadays...) woke up 2 hours later, gave him a fresh can of food and hand fed him some more chicken. He actually ate a little more to my relief even on buprenex - 1/4 can FF and maybe another 1-2 oz chicken. He also purred like a MANIAC and had dilated eyes. Dan held him on his lap and he was super happy. Is this a side effect of buprenex? Is our boy stoned??? o_O

His pre shot was 227, probably bc he took the cerenia in that high carb pill pocket. Whatever, as long as he got it and he’s eating. I was gonna give him 1.5 units but by habit I drew 2 and didn’t think of it until I gave it!!!! THATs and epic fail on my part... :banghead: bet no one else has ever done that! Well, I figured I’ll let him rest a little then in a couple of hours I’ll feed him some rotisserie chicken. Dan picked some up. He’s at the gym now so we’ll try to feed him when he gets back. I’m supposed to run today but instead I’m sleeping because I've just has enough of this week. It’s mostly been work stuff, but Frosty not eating this morning was the icing on the cake. I’m done with this week :stop:

Ha! BTDT. Usually I am calling him to try and get him to eat but, yep. In the bathroom at work (only private place)... "come on Gizmo, come eat. Bucky boy, come eat your fudz"

Lol :bighug:

Me too. I hope you get s good nights sleep :)

You want us to do math? :p My bupe was liquid, I seem to remember 0.03mg/ml. Neko's dose was 0.22ml and she weighed 6.5 kg. If my math was right, I think I gave closer to what you gave tonight. I went to an emergency vet once for the civvie, accidentally got 0.05 mg/ml bupe and didn't notice until he did the drunken sailor routine. There is a huge range in bupe dosing per weight for cats.

No, never. :p:p:p Never given the regular dose after a BCS.;) Surf time Frosty.

Sending appy vines for Frosty and sleepy ones for you. :bighug:

Glad you got Frosty to eat some for you today....it's better than nothing!!

Of course these crazy cats are plotting against us!!

Yes, we got the 0.05 mg/ml buprenex! I wonder if she was supposed to give us 0.03 and made a mistake?

I’m thinking of upping the dose tonight since he seems to be in pain and not eating, and threw up. :(
