His numbers are good but they still could come down a bit. I'd stick with at least 0.5 fat but given his recent activity, I think you could try 0.75 skinny with usual monitoring. It might just coax him down to a high dark green

Ok I'm going with the 0.75 SKINNY
MONDAY 7-1-19
AMPS - 177 Shooting 0.75 SKINNY
+2 - 117 fed him FF @MrWorfMen's Mom

+ 3 152 I think this might be this high at +3 because about 20 minutes before I feed him his FF Pate he just wouldn't shut up, crying and crying for food so I gave him about 6 Dr Elseys Clean Protein Dry and then after testing him at +2 I fed him his FF. Next time I'm going to lock him in the bathroom, only kidding, I have a weird sense of humor.
Will now test him at +5 to see if he might have dropped some and the dry food is out of his system @MrWorfMen's Mom

+5 - 123 I guess the dry food got out of his system since his BG dropped, just fed him a teaspoon of the FF Chicken Pate @MrWorfMen's Mom

+8 - 136 he ate about a teaspoon of FF will test tonight at 9:00 pm @MrWorfMen's Mom

Dr. Elsey's is low carb so I doubt 6 pieces would do much but maybe the extra pieces because of calories/volume of food rather than carbs caused that blip. Can't remember the carb% of Dr. E's. Is it higher than the FF?

Found this in the Chewy site about Dr Elseys Clean Protein Chicken Dry Food
This food contains 4.28% Carbohydrates on an as fed basis, 4.69% on a dry matter basis

This formula contains 554 calories per cup @MrWorfMen's Mom

Sounds good to me. I'm sure Tyler will eat if he gets hungry or his BG starts dropping a lot. As long as his appetite doesn't drop off completely, I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok Linda, I just wish at some point soon he will give us some dark green numbers, This morning when I went to feed him his FF he turned his head, so I put some on my finger and he started to lick it off, did this about 4 times until he finally started eating from the dish, he's a spoiled brats, lol but I'd bet you if I put the Dr Elseys in front of him he would scoff them up @MrWorfMen's Mom

Ok. If u will be home to keep an eye on Tyler, And u have lots of strips and higher carb food, u could try 0.25u.
Well I have plenty of strios and home all day, but the high carb food, one day last week I bought the FF in gravy, two types to see if he would eat it, he wouldn't no matter what I tried. So all I have in the house that is high carbs is still the dry Iams chicken flavor and karo @MrWorfMen's Mom

I wasn't saying to not feed and retest to see if it was a fluke. You do that to see if BG is rising on it's own and if it is, then you can decide if it's safe to give a bigger dose.

As long as you have karo you can make higher carb food by mixing some into the LC food. I doubt you'll need it based on Tyler's current habits but we just never know.

Ok got it, I'm going to shoot the 0.25 u, I'm a little nervous, but I want to see what happens, are u going to be around today @MrWorfMen's Mom thanks for explaining to me about seeing if a BG is rising on it's on his morning, at least I know what to do now if it happens again @MrWorfMen's Mom

Yes I'll be around for the most part. Gotta go pull some weeds from between the interlock on the front walk but probably won't last long out there. With humidity it's supposed to be close to 100 degrees today. I like heat but that might be just a bit too much. Grab a +2 and I'll check back in then.

Thanks so much Linda, will check +2
I hear ya about the humidity, it's brutal here already, don't stay out to long, talk later @MrWorfMen's Mom

jumping in to say, if those weeds are too pesky, spray them with vinegar, often it works better than the chemical sprays

Thanks. I use vinegar but I have a park across the street which needless to say is less than well kept so I tend to still have to yank them up by the roots every couple of weeks and reapply a healthy wash of vinegar. Even the chemical stuff doesn't keep them at bay. SIGH!

Yup. It quite often seems we'll get a rash of low pre-shots or kitties out shark hunting all at once. Must be something in the water or the weather!?! :woot:

just glad we weren't one of them, given the high PMPS I was on the alert; instead, Catcat is flopped down resting after being highly stressed last night due to fireworks; since adult son is having a party in the yard, will be shooting all sorts of stuff off, we are planning to load Catcat into his carrier, drive around to find some place that's quiet -- or quiet-er -- maybe out to the airport, don't think fireworks are allowed in that area, might even take lounge chairs and sleeping bags, make a night of it

Poor Catcat with those damn fireworks, I'm just waiting for tonight to see what goes on around here with fireworks, I dread every 4th of July.If I remember correctly weren't you going to change insulin once Catcat had dental work done. @CandyH and Catcat

Gotta go check out my backyard for firework shells yet again. Idiot behind and one house over was shooting stuff off in the corner of his property close to the fence on the 1st. I'm surprised we didn't end up with greenery on fire. Thankfully they weren't loud fireworks so my kitties weren't terrified for a change. It was relatively quiet here this year. Hopefully you find someplace quiet!

Some people are idiots, they should ban the selling of fireworks again, only have them that are run by the town, here where I live Lyndhurst N.J. they have them down by our County Park, those I don't here, it's idiot kids around here and their dumb parents shooting them off way past 11:00 pm. @MrWorfMen's MomI am also 10 minutes away from Giant Stadium, there is a big fair going on there and they also do them.

thought it might be more prudent to wait a few days still on Vetsulin, to see what effect if any, the dental work had on his BG -- so far doesn't seem like much, if anything the values went up, but that could be stress, could be residual infection from dental extractions or that cat acne that suppurated (two different antibiotics injected plus I'm treating topically with chlorhexidine, benzoyl peroxide, and clindamycin) -- I figured change just one thing at a time -- so in a day or two I'll transition to Lantus, think it will be a blessing for all of us -- less work even though I'll have to do a curve or two (poor Catcat, he hates those)
