Congrats on your first "much better" preshot - a low yellow! I used to count points (like kitty going from 300 to 100 in a few hours), and thinking that starting at 200 would go down to 0. That is not how the insulin works, thankfully. You should not see the big dive like you did from black to green on the 19th. However all the shoulds don't really drive the Cat! Test and learn:cat:

LT is strolling along today at a different pace than when he was on 1.0U. I'm hoping once he settles in at .75 that we'll see some blue/green.

I find it so crazy what a difference 0.25u can make! LT is having a really nice slow and steady slide today! just perfect!!

Hope you've had a great day Suzanne!

Aargh! LT throws up a hairball (about the 3rd) in the last week. While I'm dutifully running Lil Green for cleanup, he sneaks onto the counter to get the diabetic dog's food that was just sitting waiting to be fed as soon as I cleaned up the mess and tested the dog. I don't think he got much, but it's pretty high carb.:arghh:

LT is waiting to eat while I find out if I should give a full shot. I hate to try and test him again after a wait because he is so agitated.

I wish I had a test after his +6, but I had to do some other things. Worried because he's a bit lower than his +6.

I don't know what to tell you, Suzanne.
His numbers have been going down all day, and this after a possible fur shot last night.
Yes, he got into the diabetic dog food, but carbs wear off.
Tagging @Wendy&Neko who might still be online to look at your spreadsheet.

Do you have lots of strips, HC, coffee?

I cannot stay up tonight. I have to get out of the house in the morning and that is something that is almost impossible for me to do.

I'd say thirty minutes after shot time. The dog food happens not too long after that.

If you need to get back to your usual shooting time, you can walk back the shooting time 15 minutes each cycle OR 30 minutes once a day. With LT's sensitivity to insulin, I'd go with 15 each cycle.

Yes, you are very getting pretty good.
Most of it has been above the real tack action number of 68.
Anything under 68 is feed HC and test again in 20 minutes.

Sorry about the hairball. At least you didn't step on it in your bare feet.

It is basically the same number allowing for meter variance.
Tagging @Bron and Sheba (GA) since I'm above my comfort zone.

So, I'm thinking give the 0.75U? We are at bit past the 1/2 hour, but I don't want to do a NS tonight when we are making progress.

I'll check in tonight when I can. I'll be up for a little bit but may be on a last legs laptop.
Chris will see your tag if she's on later tonight.
Put up a 911 if you go below 68. It is always best to have a second pair of eyes and a bit of company.

Yep, I'm ready to roll. Your Rover looks so much like my Fred who is also Maine Coon influence. Rover must have been so special and it's so nice that he still comes for a visit now and then.

Fred was rescued by us out of our hospital's parking lot where he lived and was fed by employees for a couple of weeks. DH and I decided that just wouldn't do, so we took food and a carrier to the parking lot and the rest is history. He was neutered right away and basically lives outside our house and spends his time catching mice. He comes in at night to spend time with his bestie friend LT.

Thank you for giving Fred a home. I rescued a parking lot cat once. He never strayed more than 100 feet from the house.
Thanks, Chris. I won't up up much longer … or at a computer.

Thanks Chris - I need to put your and @Red & Rover (GA) on salary for all the time you spend with me. I feel like I'm developed a better grasp as to what to do, but I've really only been at this 2 weeks as of tomorrow. I'll be posting everything on here. You guys are life savers.

Suzanne - what a nice surprise to see how quickly LT is responding - looks like he's fairly insulin sensitive, and you may be giving drop doses before long. Your dog experience looks like it gave you a head start! Go LT:cat:

OK....let's see how much of that's a food bump

    See you at +2

ETA...just a head's up....I can't stay up late tonight but I think you pretty much know what to do at this point.

Maybe @Bron and Sheba (GA) will be on tonight to keep an eye out just in case

Yes, please. 232 and 222 are the same number, so LT is flat and is not showing his cards. What you want to be aware of is a big drop. There was a big drop at +4 the other night. That does not guarantee that tonight there will be a big drop or that it will be at +4 because he is a cat.
I'm heading off to bed. 1 a.m. for me. Holler for help and company. Someone should answer.
If numbers are extremely low or LT shows symptoms of hypo (some cats don't some symptoms until it's too late) and you do not get a timely response, call the ER vet, grab the cat and the syrup and jump in the car. Better safe than sorry.

I'd give him a small snack of low carb and test again at +4 or +5 just to make sure he isn't up to any funny business.

At least you'll be able to get a nap in!

    See you tomorrow!

Be good LT....Auntie Chris says for you to be a good boy and let your mama get some sleep! Us hoomins aren't like you cats....we don't get to sleep 20 hours a day!

@Bron and Sheba (GA), LTs BG@ +5.75 is 108. I had already piled into bed when I saw the Chris's not about a low carb snack, so he hasn't had anything else to eat.

No, I didn't test at +6.25. I just felt more comfortable giving him a bite of food before I headed back to bed.
